Tiote is getting on my tits, and the tits of most of us.

Perch has proven himself fully capable, and IMO he's better and more consistent on the ball than Tiote is.

Perch is a great tackler, he has good pace, and I've seen some fantastic skill on the ball from him recently. Nothing amazing, but he gets himself out of sticky situations with simple touches and turns. He does the job of a holding mid. His passing is decent enough, and he doesn't smack it off other players like Tiote does.

I like Tiote, but it's time to move the bloke on. He's a great player, but not right for the direction the team is going. He'd be fantastic in a team that is more defensively minded and simple, like Norwich. But in a pass and move system like ours, he doesn't cut it. He gives the ball away in critical positions.

Tiote is immense at his best, but Perch is more reliable and should be given games.

Pards might end up playing both if Cabs is out.

I disagree. In no way should we ever let Tiote move on until after Wigan's next trip to St James.

    I think Tiote's nbeen misused.
Haven't we noticed that he's being played higher up the pitch, even sometimes making runs in the final third?
I don't get this move. That happens even when he partners Cabaye.

Now I know this may be similar to what France play with Cabaye as the box-to-box midfielder in a 3 man midfield, but Tiote is a full defensive-minded midfielder, and plays best as one, not someone you'd expect to be up front making runs. His best attribute is breaking up play, and should stick to that.

Even when he's been in withdrawn positions he's been trying to dribble with the ball and he gives it away.

Our problem at the moment is that we're supposed to line up 4-2-3-1, with Tiote the more defensive minded of the 2 behind 3 attackers plus Cisse. However, under Pards it's just too similar to 4-4-2; Sissoko pushes up too much, as does the midfield and the inside-left & -right end up as left and right wing. It smacks a bit of Pardew just copying a tactic, rather than implementing a style of play. Compare how we play to, say, Arsenal. Under Wenger, there's a lot more definition of roles and understanding of responsibility. Tiote is being misused, but only - I think - because Pardew doesn't quite 'get' 4-2-3-1. In reality, the formation we're supposed to play is right.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but unfortunately I'm going to be away that weekend :emoticon-0106-cryin

In all seriousness however, I wonder if part of the Tiote problem is that he's been trying to step up and contribute going forward when Cabaye was missing?

If so, he needs to remember what he's good at and stick to winning the ball and supplying 10 yard simple passes.

One of the problems we seem to have had in the last few games is that people always seem to want the "hollywood" pass e.g. Obertan's back heel in the home EL game.

They're great when they come off, but if not you lose position pretty quickly.

We really need to stick to simple passing and movement - use a more direct ball by all means from time to time, but keeping hold of the ball has to be key.

Form is temporary, class is permanent but lack of discipline quickly becomes a habit.

He needs to watch a few games from the bench to remind him that this is what happens when he becomes self indulgent

    Tiote is becoming a liabilty.
Perch when he first played for us was always going in the book, but the lad has learnt and because of this has become a better player.
    Perch for me <ok>

Tiote just isn't doing what he does well. Win the ball, break the play up and give it immediately. Don't know why he is trying to be flash. He has always won the plaudits for doing the simple things but doing them better than anyone else. Back to basics for tiote otherwise he needs dropped. Personally I would play sissoko in tiote's role and let marveux start more games. With Ben arfa out, we could do with Marv getting a good run of games.

All day long. Perch might give away the odd foul but never gives the ball away like Tiote. It's one thing to give away the odd daft freekick but to give the ball in crucial areas time and time again is unforgivable imo. We should have cashed in on him last summer when he was worth something

The only worrying thing is he's on 9 bookings for the season already, one more and he's out for 2 matches...

I never realised he'd gotten that many bookings. He never seems to put in bad challenges.
