Not even on the basis that if it were a Sunderland player who was on the receiving end of that tackle this is disgusting. The FA have decided not to punish the lad as at least 1 official saw the "coming together". Think far less of Martinez (as a man not manager) and Whelan following their comments since.

On a seperate note thank f**k we are not owned by foreigners who have little to no interest in the fans, the heart of the club. Not saying Appleton was a good choice initially or the right man but 4/5 managers in one season = relegation contenders.

Wasn't it the fans the heart of the club screaming for the managers head that started all this?

Ha ha suppose it was actually. How they would probably pray for Kean now. It doesnt effect me one bit but just find it a bit sad to see sh!t owners ruining a club.

I just find them a bunch of dicks. If anything I would have thought they would have gone the other way and slapped a 6 game ban on him as they are a 'small' club. clueless.

It was reckless, it was assault and he should be handed a lengthy ban. Not sure what the FA are doing but then again do we ever, however NUFC response is spot on.

I do...they had an eight hour meeting today to go all out to give Owen an ambassador role. Then discussed a real issue during the toilet break. That organisation are no better than the corrupt twats that run the country.

    Why?

Look nothing to do with it involving Newcastle, obviously it was a horrible tackle but I genuinely believe them when they say it wasn't intentional and the lad is upset about it. You could see at the time that it had visibly upset the lad.

All they have done is try to protect the lad, he is only just making his debut in the Premier league and only 21 years old, of course they are going to protect him as best they can. I would think less of them if they just threw him to the wolves.

2 main points here for me:

    1) the tackle was awful and he should have received a red card on the day and certainly should have retrospectively as the tv images look worse every time I see it. The FA are a bunch of fannies so no-one should be surprised they have fudged the whole thing,. As for Whelan and Martinez? I think they are both a pair of ****s anyway so no change there for me.

    2) However, I think the mags are in danger of making total tits of themselves over this now and are embarassing themselves about it. Carvers reaction was pathetic and he deserves his mis-conduct charge and that numb **** Llambias is a plum anyway. Tiote and Cabaye have made some appaling tackles in their time and Cabaye especially (the tackle on Bardsley last year was a total disgrace and ever so sly) has got away with murder at times and not once have I heard Pardew, Carver, Llambias OR the whole ****ing NE press EVER describe them as disgraceful? If they had done so I may take them more seriously.

The tackle deserved a min 3 match ban and we could have all gone home happy. As it is this is dragging on and on and boring the ****e out of me now. Even if it were a Sunderland player I'd be saying shut up and move on.

Agree with you about Cabaye, Cest, but if that had happened to one of ours we'd be yelling about it as well. Bloody shocking challenge...

Yes it was an awful tackle that is deserving of a severe ban.

But it has FOR A LONG time been the policy of the FA to only punish actions that haven't been seen by the officials. The officials did see this incident, and chose not to do anything. Whether they were right or wrong is irrelevant, though they did get it massively wrong.

Yet because it happened to a Newcastle player, they seem to be outraged that they have been dealt with how the rest of are dealt with. And because its them, its somehow the biggest injustice to be suffered by a football club ever. Above all else they are embarrassing themselvves.

I am not happy but the rules are the rules. Thinking about it, I should not be as irate as I am. Gotta move on from it. My biggest beef is that McManaman did not seem to care so much. Never went over to see how he was plus he has previous is reckless challenges. He does not learn and I fear this is a part of his game. He needs to calm things down. I think some sort of punishment would be good but you can;t trust the FA.

QWOP, I have to disagree mate. I did see him go over to the lad twice to see how he was and his captain looked to be asking him if he was ok, because he was visibly shaking up by it.

That was also McManamans full debut so he cant have to much previous? Cabaye on the other hand.....

Are you sure? I am not calling you a liar but I never saw anything. Might have been due to my blind rage though <laugh>. His previous crazy tackle (if I may call it that) was in a reserve game against Manchester City. I am probably not the best person to be commenting on this and I have no idea why I chimed in. I would look at other videos but I am a weakling who can't stomach these things lol.

Cabaye has nothing to do with this. Haidara has never (to my knowledge) done anything like this before. I am sad for the lad really. Hopefully he returns. I will say, all this talk of compensation might be silly however it is worthwhile IF we are successful.

Mate, I hope Haidara is alright and it is a shame about him. I've never once thought it to be a good thing or funny when a player suffers a bad injury.

He definitely went over to him when he was getting put on the stretcher.
