If I saw Jack Gleeson (Joffrey) in the street, I'd be tempted to punch his face.

That's a testament to how good of an actor he is. Same with Lena Heady (Cersei). Both play their parts so convincingly that you can't imagine they might actually be nice people.

I know one person that dies in this series from reading the books and it's a very gruesome death.

Dross or not, you've gotta admit, pointless is definitely one of the best game shows out there as it's not just about knowing the answer, but it's also being as obscure as possible but while still being correct. Not that that's saying much about being the best game show. The cube is alright too, but I'd be horrificly awful on that.

And the way you quote me makes it sound like I called you blinkered. I sometimes watch Horizon and I've seen a bit of the Sky at Night but it's usually on at some ridiculous hour. I dunno the other Brian Cox, but the Physicist is awesome, and yes I saw Wonders of Life. And I've watched a lot of documentaries narrated by David Attenborough, and Dan Snow back in the day (when he did a series alongside his father), I've watched a bit of Mr. Reeve's documentaries. There was also a good series by a female historian whose name I can't remember about the Hundred Years War, but unfortunately I only saw the first episode. So yes, I do watch lots of cultural programmes.

Never properly watched any Star Trek though.

I was on Pointless today. True story.

Not one of the contestants, but on today's episode I was in the audience.

It was in December, so as clever as he is, I doubt he knew!

Even better <3 They talk a lot of ****, it's quite upsetting to see how much is cut out. Armstrong's really really nice.

I've vowed to go on Pointless one day. My knowledge of Football/Formula One/Geography/Music has served me well over the hundreds of episodesof Pointless that I've watched.

Yes, you right, I can be, Dan. Let me put it this way.

I was chatting with a mate the other day about Napoleonic era naval films [I'm reading through CS Forrester - Hornblower books, which sparked off the chat]. We came round to mentioning Master & Commander: The Far Side of the World [OK, not Forrester, but a distillation of Patrick O'Brien books, in this case]. We both felt the film was absolutely superb. Personally, if I hadn't already watched the film about a dozen or more times since its release, I'd watch it again, right now probably. It has a heavyweight quality and accuracy which films of the ilk ought to try to aspire to. Of course, it has just about made its money back and some, after all these intervening years. Then my friend mentioned Pirates of the Caribbean.

I remember being in the cinema, almost slack jawed at what I was watching. Remember what I've been saying about leaving football matches early..? The same goes for cinemas, but for the first time in my life, I left a film early. In fact, I could only stand 30+ minutes and that was a huge effort. I believe I may never have witnessed such lightweight wispy claptrap in my entire life. I'd rather have watched an episode of The Clangers, honestly [actually, that's no contest - I loved the clangers]..! I sat in the bar and about 15 minutes later one of the group I went with came out too [actually the guy I was having the conversation with the other day]. He said he thought I'd be in the bar and I congratulated him on his staying power, over mine. We had several beers. The other three came out when the film ended and the general opinion was that it was OK, but nothing to waste money on. I've since seen the film on DVD and it wasn't any better. I think it was probably red wine and dry roasted peanuts that allowed me to put up with it.

We're all different and I don't have to like things that other people like. And they don't have to like the stuff that appeals to me either. I sometimes talk about not being a sheep, and/or thinking independently and I find I'm like that in almost everything I do. But I do fit some categories. I love riding motorcycles, trying to play a guitar, cooking, going sailing [aha, the call of the high seas again] and chatting with actual friends directly, or virtual ones remotely on here. Oh yeah, and I love Southampton FC too, so perhaps I'm not so different after all.

    And I'm a curmudgeon. :)

Oh today's episode. Missed that the first time! The funny thing about Richard is that he's well over 6 ft but he's always sitting down so it's hard to tell.
