They were talking about the relegation battle on last night's Monday Night Club on 5Live and Claridge, Chappers and Motty were all making their predictions of how the league would finish from 14th down. Interestingly none of them mentioned us being in the scrap at all, they all had the current bottom two going down with them choosing Villa, Wigan and Sunderland between them as the other one. A couple of them had Stoke only staying up by a whisker which I thought a bit surprising as I hadn't seen them mentioned in the relegation conversations at all, and their run in isn't that tricky - wishful thinking perhaps?
Their reasoning seems pretty sound to me Munky, I can´t think many would see either Reading or QPR saving themselves right now, and with only one place left, those three are the most likely suspects.
Oh I agree, for me it's between Wigan, Villa and Sunderland, with the latter probably favourite the way things are panning out - it was Stoke finishing 17th that I was a bit surprised about
Blimey cheer up Carra we aint safe yet but think several teams would swap with us, can see us getting at least 40 points
Wait and see, that game at Wigan is massive. We get a point then we should be OK I'll reiterate however that the performance at Sunderland was really no different to the last 10 games. Don't be fooled by a point or the opposition that things have turned around. If that defence breaks down through injury we will fall off a cliff, because the other end isn't going to be allowed to save us.
Agreed, but any of the current bottom 10 or 11 could end up in 17th in theory, so I suppose they are possible as any others. Offer any of us 17th now, and I´m sure they´d take it.
I don't think if we lose at Wigan we are in big trouble cArrabuh, there are too many teams in between us and Wigan. You havent mentioned saints, they are far from out of it Lose and it puts pressure on the home games, but we have four very winable games at home, plus a trip to stoke which has got 0-0 written all over it Personally I predict another draw at the dw
If Bassong or Turner get injured Rusty will move to CB and Whittaker back in with young Bennett R as back up im not losing sleep over that, CH has them organised, as soon as Tettey returns we will start going forward more, having said that until the man in black screwed us Saturday I liked what I was seeing with the Kamara Hoolahoops combo
Very categoric statement, be interesting to see how right you are, personally I think you´re way off the mark, but as gentlemen we must agree to disagree.
Where exactly are the goals coming from for us to win 2 more games? I think we'll get 4 more draws and just scrape staying up! If we end up in the bottom 4 then goal difference could relegate us!
Several draws does seem the more likely scenario however we're bound to get a win in amongst it. I predicted months ago, we'd be safe after the Reading game. Suspect till then we'll mix the draws with the losses. I'm confident we'll be fine and just keep our noses away from the scrap throughout. Carrabuh your point is more pessimistic than usual. Even if we just trundle along with our current form of a point or thereabouts per game, that's enough. It's not a comment on how we play, just simply getting over the line.
If we do go down, it won't be because of the games we've lost - most of which have been pretty clear-cut - but because of the draws we didn't convert into wins. I figure we were the better team, often by a long way, in 9 of those drawn games. A couple of wins instead of two of those draws and we would be looking virtually safe by now. The irony is that I would take another one of those draws very happily next Saturday.
We stand more chance of getting them from Tesco's! Goal's that is, not footballers! We never look like scoring these days.
Possible results: v Wigan away draw v Swansea home draw v Arsenal away lose v Reading home win v Stoke away draw v Aston Villa home win v WBA home draw v Man City away lose Season so far: draws approx. 1 in 2, wins approx. 1 in 4 and loses approx. 1 in 3. Ten points hopefully so end season with 44 points.
its all a bit on the black side here! i honestly think we will beat wigan, then three points against reading and were sorted! i know we have not been prolific in front of goal but i think there are goals in the team and we still have a great spirit. we will be fine!
Hardly all a bit on the black side, surely, we know carrabuh and a couple of others find it hard to be positive, but you´ll have to get used to that, thought the rest of us were fairly optimistic.
