Good luck Sandy. As Master Jsy has AS, we were lucky to get him in the only secondary school in Jersey that has a unit for those with AS and autism. It has helped so much, and he is less prone to episodes (for want of a better word). If he hadn't been diagnosed in time, he would've gone to the same school as jerzeypie, and without the specialist help he gets, I dread to think what he'd be like now.

Thanks everyone, just got back from the meeting. It was very good and the Early Years officer seems to think we have a strong case for the school we want him to go to. But it has to go against 2 separate panels (one for our borough council and then the requested schools borough council), so we have to wait and see. Luckily the current nursery/school has been excellent with my son, they have funding for one-on-one help with him which is rare these days (at least that's what I have been hearing from other parents in similar situations). The school do not get full funding so they have been topping up the difference to make sure that my son gets full one-on-one for all of the times he is at the nursery. It's a shame that he will have to leave there but we have all agreed that they can only support him short-term and a specialist school will be needed long term. At least they can continue with him until we find a suitable placement elsewhere.

I wish you well with your application Sandy - I know just how tough it can be in these fiscally-challenged times for children to get the support that they so obviously need. As a teacher, I know exactly how it can impact upon all concerned.

well that was a great night! Just back from my school reunion...what an incredible time! It was very impromptu and a small group of around 30, most of whom i haven't seen for 32 years...it was just incredible..i can't stop smiling!

morning, is it 5:30 yet? Damp and dreary here in eastern bandit country and not much else going on. Bit quiet on my desk at the moment but will all change very soon and I'll be flat out till August, so I best enjoy the calm before the storm.
Morning all, bright and breezy here, but nothing to stop me attacking another bramble patch. Garage telephoned to say that the cost of parts for Mme's car had risen quite a lot and did I want them to carry on. Always the same with cars, you get a stung every time, but if you want to keep it on the road you just have to pay up.
My mower went in for a service and it is going to cost me more than the cost of my last car service !!!! It has been Spring here technically for over half an hour but the buds are not coming out yet.
I don't think anyone's actually told Spring that is supposed to be here now. Either that or Winter is being bloody stubborn yet again!! Great weather for my company, we sell barbecues and garden furniture.
I've been to 3 reunions in about 5 years. The one at the school was an "all years" reunion and only 3 people in my year showed up. Someone in my year then organised one (with the help of Facebook) for just our year at a pub in St Albans and about 40 or so of us turned up and then we did the same the following year. It was mentioned about having one during the academic year we turned 40, but that didn't happen.
It is 3.40 in the morning. One child has woken me by her screming and anger. Someone has taken her milk and she is fighting hard in bed. She has told me, in no uncertain tones, to go away, which is very unlike her. She is fast asleep as she does all this. The other one is giggling in bed, in another room. He is also fast asleep. Once, when I was far too old to have children, I used to be able to sleep all night.
Signs of spring here....the sun came out for at least five minutes in mid-afternoon and it hasn't rained for six hours or more now. Mind you the forecast for the next three days sounds pretty grim. I did think about cutting the grass but a mug of tea and a home-made hot cross bun successfully put the idea out of my head.

I'm sure this has been remarked on already but this discrepancy between 1st year parachute payments and the payments to the rest from PL TV deal is not good news for the general health of Championship or other FL clubs. As the Guardian puts it: "As described in a letter to Football League clubs by the chairman, Greg Clarke, relegated clubs will receive £23m in the first year (a £7m increase), £18m in the second (£5m) and £9m in years three and four. Clubs in the Championship who do not get parachute payments currently receive £2.3m a season, League One sides £325,000 and League Two sides £250,000. It is proposed that those payments are increased by around 5% under the new offer. "If you're getting £2.3m a year and your rivals are getting £23m, how is that sustainable? How do you compete? It also makes it very difficult to see how financial fair play can be sustained," said one Championship source.
We have an official school one in July, i can't wait now, though that's also for all years...it's the school's 75th anniversary
