I missed this on the night, but I've been recommended to see it. First impression: It's brilliant. Especially for Comic Relief.

I think Ricky Gervais is a legend really. He gets a lot of stick but he's certainly a top guy. (IMO)

He's ****ing quality, the office is just genius, some comedians do things at Comic Relief which aren't funny but this certainly didn't disappoint, his face when he looks at the copper at 2:20 is priceless.

Gervais is brilliant, he puts so much thought into what he does and yet he doesn't really have to because he has natural wit; something which is so hard to find in comedians these days.

Take Lee Evans for example; he just goes on stage, pulls daft faces and speaks like he has a mouth full of cock. He isn't funny (See Blackadder's description of Charlie Chaplain) in my opinion. Same goes for Keith Lemon, he's just everywhere for no reason, he isn't funny to me either, which is a shame because I really liked him as Avid Merrion.

Gervais will go down as a legend when he dies. He and Rowan Atkinsons Bishop sketch during comic relief were priceless. Glad they are on my sky+ now.

With you on that, Lee Evans is terrible. I can't believe so many people like him.

I can't believe so many people rate Gervias.

The Office was good, Extra's was watchable, but the US Office and Derek are really poor, his stand up is mediocre and his films are utter ****e.

I really like the US Office, it's one of the few American TV shows I actually find funny.

But just for accuracy, Ricky had next to nothing to do with it, he's down as an Exec Producer so he gets paid without having to do anything (his words), in terms of the writing he has contributed nothing.

The list of popular comedians that are utter ****e is endless, the popularity of John Bishop & Michael McIntyre is particularly annoying.

I like Michael Mcintyre, but then again I liked him before they started putting him on the tv every two minutes, starts to get boring.

Aww, I like John Bishop. He's one of the few that make me laugh. Billy Connolly is one I'm going to miss being around though, he was hilarious IMO.

Ricky Gervais is unique in his approach to comedy and I think he's fallen into the 'marmite' category; you either love him, or you hate him. I think he's great.

I agree about people like Lee Evans and Keith Lemon; they're funny, but it's just overdone and they're made out to be gods when really it's just silliness.

I personally think David Mitchell is one of the wittiest men on TV, he doesn't do stand-up really so I don't know if he counts as a comedian but he's a funny bastard, especially alongside Lee Mack on Would I Lie to You?

I thought it was a very good sketch, I was worried that it would 'ruin' David Brent a little, but it was definitely a good addition. The only issue is that Brent wouldn't be as well kept as Ricky Gervais is now.

Why are you criticising him for the US Office? He and Merchant are executive producers which in their own description meant "turn up for the first day of filming, never lift a single finger again over the multiple series and watch the money roll in".

And the XFM shows he did are the best radio I have ever heard.

Apologies, just seen this and made exactly the same point.

If he's happy to put his name to a piece of ****, just because he gets paid for it, then I'm happy to slag him off for it.

I didn't even get on to his last two programmes being about a dwarf and a ******, which are like TV versions of an old Hull Fair sideshow.

The bloke's been living off The Office for thirteen years now, it's about time he proved he wasn't a one trick pony, taking the piss out of Karl Pilkington simply isn't enough to win me over.

I didnt say you should like him, I just said criticising him for your thoughts on a tv programme he wasnt involved in seem a little misplaced. If they paid me to sit in a house in the US and have nothing to do with Last of the Summer Wine I'd happily agree.

And Karl really isnt a ******. He was head of production at a radio station before he even met Ricky.

As Ricardo has pointed out, Derek is the ******, not Karl. <doh>

I've met Karl Pilkington, he was sat on the table next to me at Soho House and he's nothing like the bloke he plays in An Idiot Abroad, it's just a character he plays.

That was a weird night at Soho house, I met Karl Pilkington, Mark Foster, the Prodigy's tour manager and some bird who worked for Chelsea, who's only job seemed to be getting players out of whatever **** situation they'd got themselves into. <laugh>

    Oh aye, doh.

And he's a bloody good actor then seeing as he's kept it up since 2001 on XFM. There hasn't been a day in the last 9 years that I haven't listened to him. He's my hero and this is the only time in history I'll admit to being jealous of you :emoticon-0105-wink:
