Whoa whoa. I didn't know I'd still have to drive to hull, get on the coach and come back to wessie land to watch it.at my neighbours house. It's a ****ing outrage.
I went to Cancel my Huddersfield Ticket on saturday before the game, and they had already taken the money, but as i glanced at the screen, it was £2 extra, only to be informed by the ticket office, well with you picking your ticket up at Hartshead Moore, the £2 charge is for the bus to take you from the Services to the Ground! When i asked why wasnt i informed of this charge, i got told, well who do you think are going to pay for the bussess!! So now i have to send a letter or e-mail to the ticket office claiming i dont want my ticket! So anyone who is traveling to the game and parking at the Park and Ride, be warned your being charged £2 to cover the cost of the bus!!! OH and my E-Mail canceling my ticket is going to the ticket office tommorow!
I've just sent them this...... warning them about the potential trouble that they've caused for themselves Hi Amanda, (and also Wayne and Damian) I understand that you are co-ordinating the comments from the general public regarding the travel restrictions that West Yorkshire Police have tried to impose on Hull City fans for their forthcoming game at Huddersfield on March 30th I’d like to say, that in our so-called “Free” and “democratic” country, this approach from the WYP is completely unacceptable and ridiculously draconian. In fact, I don’t really believe that they can legally enforce this decision. I don’t believe they have the power (or definitely shouldn’t have)… to tell people how they must travel to an entertainment event. I believe it is a breach of our Human rights and also an attack on our freedom of choice. They should NOT be allowed to try and do this to us, when we are normal law-abiding citizens, who just want to travel to an entertainment event in any way that we choose to do so. Please, could you make sure that any MP’s or Police Commissioners/Police bosses, get to read this and the many thousands of other e-mails that they’ll be receiving. They HAVE to know that they ARE NOT ALLOWED to do this in our society and we will NOT accept it. In fact, they’re actually creating the potential for a much bigger problem, for themselves to deal with, because thousands of people are actually considering coming to Huddersfield, in protest, for the day and choosing to boycott the actual game and instead just watch it live on Sky, in the many pubs and bars around Huddersfield. This, of course, will stretch the Police resources unnecessarily and also actually DOES create a situation for potential problems, which wouldn’t have existed if the fans were just allowed to go to the stadium as normal. WYP have created a much bigger problem for themselves by trying to control our freedom of movement… so the decision needs retracting immediately, in order to make sure that there is no unnecessary public disorder. Thank you for reading this and I hope you can forward it to the relevant people.
Statement from the club: Club Statement re: Huddersfield Town away Hull City’s away game with Huddersfield Town on Saturday 30th March has been given the security categorisation of C+IR by West Yorkshire Police. This is the highest possible security categorisation, and, despite Hull City having no record of fan trouble or disorder, West Yorkshire Police have placed draconian restrictions on the freedom of our fans who wish to travel to the match in their usual way. Since the imposition of this unprecedented level of security categorisation, we have been endeavouring to remove, or at least reduce, the categorisation which places an unpalatable slur upon the club, its fans and its home city. During this process we have been in close consultation with the Football Supporters’ Federation, who represent football fans across the United Kingdom. The result of these efforts has been a loosening of the travel restrictions but there has been no amendment of the security categorisation. As a consequence Hull City has, as a club, been left to reflect upon both the feelings of its own supporters and the implications for away fans in general. We have compared the policies of forces such as West Midlands Police with West Yorkshire Police, who operate under the same national ACPO and FA guidelines, yet apply them in diametrically opposing manners. In listening to fans we recognise, and empathise with, the deep sense of grievance over West Yorkshire Police’s effective criminalisation of Hull City supporters. Therefore whilst reluctantly accepting the increase in ticket allocation and slight reduction in travel restrictions as the most practical solution for fans wishing to attend the match, we have also decided to support a protest march organised by the Football Supporters’ Federation, aimed at highlighting the treatment of away football fans. The march from Huddersfield Town Centre to Huddersfield Town’s John Smith’s Stadium is planned to begin at 2:30pm, arriving at the stadium at 3:00pm at which time the march banner will be handed over to Hull City supporters attending the match. The banner will then be displayed across the empty seats in the away end. In taking this twin-track approach Hull City is addressing the broad range of opinion amongst its fans, which allows for a freedom of choice to protest WYP’s security categorisation through the march, a boycott or match attendance. The key message that both the Football Supporters’ Federation and Hull City are seeking to highlight is that football is a spectator sport that is made complete by the presence of fans, home and away, with singing, banter, rivalry and a little rough humour; all of which combines with the match itself to create the heady cocktail of atmosphere that gives fans a great day out. Without fans, football stands at risk of becoming a dry, sterile affair lacking such emotion and passion that supporters so enthusiastically provide. At the same time Hull City announces the formation of its Fans’ Liaison & Advisory Group (FLAG), which will engage with fans to bring added life and spectacle to the KC Stadium on match days and allow fans a presence and voice in shaping the match day experience. FLAG’s first meeting took place on Friday 15th March and will convene on a regular basis.
I think that's a very good response from the Club. Their actions in doing their utmost to get the game on and prevent Huddersfield being sanctioned will give us a very good reputation amongst the other clubs and the football authorities. It takes more of the arguments away from WYP.
It's a good statement that, however the timings of that protest seem a bit silly. I'm assuming the march will not include people attending the match, as they wouldn't be allowed in. So how are they supposed to hand this banner over at 3pm. Won't everyone be in their seats by then?

The first coaches will leave Hartshead Moor at 4pm. I suspect that the idea is for the protest march to arrive at the ground at 3pm to increase media exposure, and to ensure that they are there in good time to hand any banners over the the fans on coaches. Assuming that the stewards allow the banners to be put up?
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh yeah I forgot it isn't a 3pm kickoff As for the banners, I'd have thought that the stewards would be under instruction from the club and would be told to allow the banners to be kept there.
Your kidding ? Thats a foo king disgrace. Its not the £2 but the principal of it. Well done and I applaud your stance. In fact i am almost of the mind to do the same now.
I posted this over on the cardiff board in reply to this thing so thought I would copy it here. I find all this stupid you hull lot are a decent blokes and I have shared a Beer with a few before games before and I would gladly do so again with any of you guys. The wyp are preventing clubs getting on and socialising together and causing animosity if anything
Have had some good social banter with away supporters in Brickies, no problem. Football has moved with the times, Wyp haven't.
Too true. This sort of thing could become the norm If its allowed to go un-checked. Just imagine next season a PL match between Swansea and Cardiff and Wales police insist on the same nonsense. Our freedoms are whats at stake here not just how to travel to football matches.
I've said this before but having other clubs' fans on this is vital. It makes the message so much more powerful than if it's just one set of bitter football fans.
I'm in The WYP should be sued by LUFC for the amount of money we have lost through restricting tickets, re-arranging kick off times. mostly because leeds won their court case against them.
