I tend to Skyplus a lot of stuff and then really pig out on it some days. Means you can whizz through adverts...shortens 60 min American shows to about 45 min.

Yeah, I used to do that when I was round my girlfriends house. Don't anymore though because she broke up with me <wah> and it would probably be a bit odd if I still went round for Sky.

Most of the tv I watch is on the internet nowadays, it is amazing how poor british tv is compared with that in the USA.

You could just attach them to a pylon, that would rid you of the problem!

Each to their own then. While I lived in NZ there was a channel devoted to US TV. I took up watching Coronation Street to watch some quality instead, and believe me, I loathe that soap crap with a passion.

The best TV is American TV.

The only good British TV is Doctor Who, Pointless, The Apprentice, The Last Leg, League of the Their Own and that's about it. Although I did enjoy Some Girls far more than I probably should have.... Theme tune is easy to get stuck in your head too. I can name many good American shows though.

And of course, that's why I think British TV is far better because I loathe all of the programmes [complete and utter garbage, in my opinion] you have stated there. My choice would be unsurpassed documentaries, serious science programmes and the odd obscure comedy like The Trip. US TV doesn't even have a clue how to make that kind of quality programme. By the way, when I say British TV, I don't include CH5, ITV or SKY to dilute it.

As I say though - each to their own.

I don't like a single one of those. The only original British TV I watch nowadays is Match of the Day, and perhaps the occasional Attenborough thing. Peep Show is good for 6 weeks every 2 years, The IT Crowd was canned for some bizarre reason, panel shows get very repetitive with the same unfunny comedians every week. It's ridiculous that the best British comedy available to us is still old reruns of Blackadder and Father Ted.

American TV is just far superior right now, even if you have to wade through a lot of awful sitcoms to find the occasional good show.
