United teenager Adam Campbell has capped a remarkable fortnight by being called up to the England Under 19 squad.

The 18-year-old made his Premier League debut eight days ago as a substitute against Stoke City, and then stepped off the bench during the Magpies' Europa League Round of 16 victory over Anzhi Makhachkala.

And now the Academy forward has been drafted into the England Under 19s ranks for their final warm-up game before they head to Belgium for the Elite Qualifying Round in May

Campbell replaces Chuba Akpom, of Arsenal, and is part of an 18-man squad which will face Turkey at Telford's New Bucks Head Stadium on Thursday night (7.30pm kick-off).

Good for the lad. Don't want to heap pressure on him, but have high hopes.

Looked really good when he came on against Anji. I think he'll be a good squad asset ( certainly quicker than Stroller Shola )

Was just saying the other day what a great prospect he was, got the complete game in him. Good head, quick thinker, speed, ball control, good shot. Got the complete game in him.

Hope he can keep his feet on the ground and keep doing what he does best.

As a front two Campbell and Shola wouldn't make a bad pairing in an old school little and large style combo.

From what I've seen of Campbell he looks a decent prospect, pacy, low centre of gravity.....dare I say Bellemy-esque?

Also seems to have his head firmly on his shoulders, unlike a certain former young Newcastle Striker
