Where is he at now? Fenerbache?

I am not sure what happened with him as I believe Comolli blamed him and he blamed Comolli and Kenny or something to that effect.

Anyone else feel we should have kept hold of him instead of chopping and changing our mids in and out as we have since? I always liked him and although sometimes a bit soft in the tackle at least looked to get box to box and had an eye for goal and for a pass.

Lucas-Meireles-Gerrard I thought worked well especially in the second half of that season.

Christian Purslow put a condition in his contract that our current owners didnt agree with, so he left.

Personally I prefer Henderson. He is stronger, more energetic and seems more productive. Meireles must be 29, 30 now.

Now he is yes but still think he would have been good for us had he stayed with the team last year. I agree on the strong and more energetic but productive, I thought Meireles was always looking to cause a threat and worked well with Lucas, Suarez, Enrique, Maxi, etc.

Shame for me, same with Aquilani, if only he wanted to stay and fight he would eb awesome in there with Lucas and Gerrard.

I'd prefer to still have Kuyt and Maxi.

This. <ok> If not Kuyt, Bellamy. I thought with Rodgers style Bellamy would be perfect for this style. Ah well.

  11. We didn't need to get rid of him when we did but he wanted to go so **** him. Besides, if he had stayed then Hodgson would have claimed a bit of credit <yikes>

    PS...better than Aquilani!

I think when he was in the team we had a team of tattoos and that was the key to our success. Since then we have lost the amount of tattoos throughout the team. Someone needs to step up and get inked so we can get that form back.

Would you swap Coutinho and Sturridge for them? I'd swap Borini for Maxi or Kuyt. I wouldn't swap Allen for Adam.

If the problem is midfield, what would you change? Lucas and Gerrard pick themselves. Would you add another attacker? Or a Diame to sit next to Lucas?

Not Coutinho and Sturridge. Again, it could be difference with boards, agents, coaches etc but if we could have kept Meireles or Aqua then we wouldn't have had to splash out on Adam Allen, etc.

You already know who I want in midfield with Lucas.... <laugh> Think it is more of wish we wouldn't have let some of the quality we had go so easily.

  16. Sturridge for 'that' Torres? No debate!!!

Poulsen, Konchesky and Jovanovic anyone? <laugh>

Lucas and Gerrard plus a DM for me. I'd obviously love someone like Eriksen too <laugh>

Mereiles was a good player for us. I believe he left after being refused a promised pay rise - which he alleged Dalglish reneged on.

Would he be available? He has unfinished business here!

The front 4 of Meireles, Kuyt, Suarez & Maxi lacked pace, but it worked and they all clicked together and were a formidable attacking unit. They were helped massively by the Lucas-Spearing partnership that was outstanding despite looking a bit well, average, on paper.

Don't want him back as he's old & not good enough to justify a big contract + transfer fee but he scored memorable goals against Chelsea & Wolves. Decent player. Tidy on the ball, intelligent team player, versatile, physically good & popped up with the odd goal. Exactly the type of midfielder we need to buy more of get back in the top 4.

Would like a Diame style player in the middle. Someone with drive and strength.

City have Toure, Arsenal have Diaby, Everton have Fellaini... A player like that would help us a lot.

Since I started the thread, I have been waiting for you!!!! <laugh>

It isn't about buying him back now rather why we let him go in the first place when, especially in the second half of that season, I thought he was important for.

I said it once and will say it again..... Mulumbu. <ok>
