Anyone know why Bothroyd wasn't on the bench? I know he's not exactly a worldbeater but he hasn't played since scoring the winner at Southampton. Strikers thrive on confidence and his must have been at an all time high after Southampton and yet he hasn't appeared since. Is he injured?
I agree. First half against Villa using BZ as target man. He goes off and we bring Hoilett on. No disrespect but if you are playing one way and it is working why not bring on a direct replacement?
Totally agree and was thinking the same. If BZ is so important to us and is in such a fragile state of repair then have his deputy on the bench. The change yesterday cost us the game IMO
I know what you are saying but surely a better option than having to change a formation that was working well yesterday and he would have put it about a bit up front??
i thought that. But we still played him when he came back - then he scored against Southampton and since then we don't even use him as a sub to replace Zamora. Agree, he's been pants but once he got that winner I thought he might be a bit more lively. Maybe he's done a Bosingwa
Have to say that I am suspecting the same thing. I'm no big admirer of Betty, but he scored the winner against Southampton after playing reasonably well and hasn't had a look in since. He is the ONLY replacement for BZ in the target man position. Remy is no target man and neither is Mackie. Either Betty has thrown his toys out of the pram or Harry is getting it wrong imo.
Adel is the best replacement for Zamora - he showed that at Chelsea and in another game or 2 at that time. I don't understand why Harry isn't trying that system again now he has Hoillet, Townsend and Remy to play off him which he didn't back at the turn of the year.
I'm not altogether too sure with 'Arry's Zamora fixation. Surely a fully fit forward is better than someone running at 50-60%. I find it embarrassing when he is hobbling around the pitch. Since the Man U game he has contributed anything. No assists, no goals. Play Bothroyd.
To be honest I'm fed up with Harry's fixation on Zamora and Park, both who game in game out aren't contributing much, also taking Fabio off yesterday without another recognised left back to replace him left us in total disarray at the back and lost us the game. I agree we had to go for the win but Fabio's removal was a blunder. Playing Cesar if he wasn't fit (not so sure about that though) was a another mistake.
I tend to agree with that. He's lazy as hell but he is the only like for like swap we have for Bobby Z.
