We had plenty of chances to take something from the game yesterday - Forest defended for their lives at times and we missed a couple of sitters. That's the way close games sometimes go and I think it was the same against Blackpool earlier this season. I still think we have a great chance of 2nd spot - Forest will be hard to beat in the play offs with their current momentum, but I think automatic is stretching it a bit far for them and would rely on City, Watford and Palace all finishing the season poorly.

I sort of agree with you BUT what happened in the late 70s/early 80s will never happen again. Promotion from the 2nd division and then 2 years later European Champions not once but twice is the stuff of dreams. Most opposition fans start with "your not famous anymore" so we have to hit back with something. I doubt fans sing this chant to Huddersfield/Bristol City fans etc :)

It won't happen again for a provincial football club like Forest due to the influx of highly paid (and skilled) foreigners in our game today.

Forest like Liverpoool won the then European Cup when it was a straight knockout competition and English sides were filled with British players - no disrepect but can't see the likes of John McGovern getting into any of the top six PL teams these days.

That's not to downgrade Forest's brilliant achievement at a time when Manure were nowhere to be seen...

To be fair John Mcgovern is 63 years old, so I doubt he'd make a top six PL team today!! The only way of it happening again at any club is multi-millionaires taking over but even that doesn't mean it's a dead cert :)

Disagree about McGovern. Arsenal could do with a McGovern. Chelsea play obi mikel Man U use Anderson. A real unsung hero.

Loved the game yesterday, we lost but we could have won and that is what sport is all about. Forest played strong arm football and we played right into their game plan.

    Not a wind up.
Brian Clough would have been ashamed by the tactics Forest employed yesterday.
I think Cloughie was probably the greatest man manager in British football history.
He also loved flowing football. He hated The Revie Leeds.Forest yesterday did a Leeds on us.
I have great respect for the great Forest era but Billy Davies is being very astute and less pure in his game planning

Totally agree. They knew if they played open football against us they'd of just got picked off.

Yes - admittedly we didn't play the free flowing football that we have been playing in recent weeks. But the 5 wins before yesterday were against Huddersfield, Charlton, Sheffield Wednesday, Ipswich and Wolves. If we had played more open we wouldn't have won, bookings were too high for Forest yesterday and free kicks were duly awarded – 2 chances cleared off the line was unlucky for you, but more clinical finishing from Hull and you would have scored 3 in the last 10 minutes. I wouldn't go as far as saying we "did a Leeds", clearly we had a different approach because it was obvious that Hull were going to give us a bigger challenge than any team since Davies has been back. Surely any team would do the same? :)

I think Forest did what they needed to win and rode their luck (as most teams do with narrow victories away from home).

    Fair play to ‘em.

The "Multi Millionaires" are the players, and as young men with, generally, lots of money and very little sense, they are looking for bright lights and easy girls. So, London and Manchester clubs. We have to pay more to get players than the London clubs do.

So we get less able players, pay more, or get "damaged goods". A good example of this is Jimmy Bullard. He came to us because no one else would give him the contract length (because of his injury record), We also outbid any rival offers, and ended up with an injury prone ****bag who leached off us for a further two years then dropped out of sight (as a player).

Sadly, for you, Forest are an only slightly better option, so you pay more for worse players. You won't get a queue of Udinese players at Hull, Nottingham or Derby, but tell them the club is "Near London" and they're all dreaming of Bright Lights, Streets paved with gold, and "Roasting" English sluts! Don't blame them, if I was 20ish I'd do the same.

Good thread this cheekyforest. Your points are all pretty valid.

I think yesterday was a great game for a neutral but gutting as a City fan because we played very well and deserved something from the game.

Yesterday was a very, very frustrating game. Forest played well, but didn't impress me. I noticed that the 5 games that they'd won prior to our match were the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Charlton, Huddersfield etc, and they had to play a different style of play to beat us. We threw everything at them, and got 1 goal. Simpson's and Gedo's chances at the end of the day, could have and really should have earned us at least a point.

Brilliant end-to-end game though. Forest fans disappointed me too, they only really came to life after their first goal.

P.S. Darius Henderson is a ****er and I hate him. He always ****ing scores against us. He's as bad, if not worse than Emile Sinclair for Posh. He loves playing at the KC...
