If we'd just done the same you'd have called it 'boring, typical Pearson'. It's effective football and I actually wish we forgot about playing fancy football for the time being because we need to learn how to do the basics properly. We're running before walking at the moment.
I can honestly say ive never had a bad word to say about Pearson on here, we've conceded 8 in our last 2 away games so that was a very good win for us. If you win 1-0 tomoro in a shocking game i promise you i would not say 'boring Leicester' because we all know what a win would mean to you, the same as it ment to us tonight!! Doesn't matter how they come when your fighting for something at this stage of the season.
Anyway, as this thread is Rival Watch, I hope you beat our Promotion rivals The Cardiff Redbirds (or whatever they are called these days), and we'll beat your Play-off rivals Nottm Forest on Saturday in exchange.
That might be a bridge too far to beat Derby, you'll still be in shock after beating Cardiff. (I'll refrain from sheep jokes linking Cardiff and Derby, as I'm in shock that we actually beat Burnley)
It's always the same between us and Burnley. Tight games which are often smash and grab which normally end up in Burnley's favour. Luckily, Bruce got his tactics spot on today; stayed solid until Burnley switched their emphasis onto attack, then put on our attacking players with the added space as Burnley push up. The problem with Pearson is, is that he used to set up like that at home. Away it was brilliant, he led us to an 18 game unbeaten away run if I remember rightly, but we had an absolutely shocking home record because he'd set up the same. That's the reason behind his 'boring' label, just because of his negative tactics at home that clearly weren't working. In all honesty, we started playing a lot better before he left but I'm seeing the best football I've ever seen Hull City play this Season. Sometimes you need to grind out results in a poor and physical way in order to get the success. Cardiff haven't won pretty this Season at all IMO. I'd say Hull City, Watford, Leicester and Crystal Palace play better football than Cardiff, but the difference is that Cardiff have consistency and often win ugly.
Forest have equalised. Which is probably the best result for us. Keeps Forest at arms length and gives us hope of catching 2nd.
Another win for Forest... Not sure how to feel about that to be honest. We HAVE to beat Derby now in my opinion...
