Your central midfield is probably the shining ray of hope for us. A two man central midfield of Allen and Gerrard defending against Lallana, Ramirez and Rodriguez rotating as the three behind Lambert, if they are on their game could be fruitful for us, especially with support from Schneiderlin and Cork. Still doesn't change the primary concern which is we look ripe for the picking at the back, Hooiveld makes Carra look young and nippy and he turns like a bus, if Suarez, or any of your attackers get isolated on him with the ball at their feet then that will be worrying to say the least.
Good to see Skertel finally given a start. Though i'm a bit worried about Henderson. He hasn't featured much lately. He's been playing really well and been much more consistent, Allen had 15 good mins against spurs and leaps above him in the pecking order. Not going to do his confidence any good.
Da **** has Allen done to warrant a starting spot ahead of Hendo? He was average when he came on against Spurs. Not great, not good. Average. Ie, better than his usual uselessness. I'll cheer him on during the game, but he should not be starting. If Saints flood the midfield, we're ****ed. Gerrard isn't mobile, Allen can't defend and the rest are forwards. Worried now.
I thought Allen was out with a shoulder injury for the rest of the season? And, ignoring that, why the **** is he in the starting line-up ahead of Lucas? Failing that, Henderson? WTF
Totally Forgot about the injury, i though he was supposed to be having an Operation this week. Even if Lucas was given a break, Hendo should have gotten the nod. BR has his moment's of madness, i really hope this doesn't backfire.
Agree with you Gerrez WTF is Allen even on the pitch BR said that he would get the planned surgery on his shoulder so he would be ready for the pre-season so why the hell is he still starting him LAY HIM OFF FOR THE REST OF THE SEASON
midfield could easily get overrun I can only assume BR wants all out attack to pin them back, I would have preferred Henderson to Allen if Lucas was to be rested at least he has a bit of weight to his tackling
Thought Allen was having surgery at the end of the season? Agree if Lucas needs a rest that Henderson deserves a chance but maybe BR thinks that Gerrard/Henderson can't play together as Henderson is better going forward and doesn't trust Gerrard to play that deeper role, where as Allen can do that allowing Gerrard to push on a bit? I do like how he is varying it and not sticking to 4-3-3 all the time and changing the formation to suit the players rather than playing players out of position
