Too right Oddy...Proper man..almost like the bankrupt dictator who has served a 6 month ban for doping his endurance horses but sits beside the queen at RA.
I am back, wounded and battered puntingwise today but up for the week. But anticracker for trying to get At Fishers and Our Conner beat. Spare a thought for the poor lass who thought she'd won the amateurs gold cup. It's bad enough falling off when home and dry a furlong out, but to have everyone roar with approval was doubly harsh!!! Thing to note this week, I didn't hit a single handicap winner. Next year I'm sticking to the level weight races, easier to call because people haven't been cheating all season to get a mark. Off the top of my head I think I'm 50%+ in those races this week. Watch me stubbornly back numerous handicap horses next festival....
Anyhow,Can't believe anyone can blame Jane Mangan for what happened..the horse fancied another circuit and when half a ton of horse flesh decides to go one way there can only be one result. That area will be railed off next year.
Be fair if I'd been on the favourite, id have been cheering! I say the same every year with the handicaps, but always end up having a bet in them. I did find a 16/1 winner this year, the first handicap winner since 2008 when I had An Accordion in the JLT
Oh, I'd have cheered no doubt Shergs if I'd been on. At first I thought it was funny all the people cheering but you could see she was absolutely distraught and i was a bit gutted for her too. It must have been horrible.
Ye you do have to feel sorry for her, and I don't agree with anyone who thinks it was her fault. She'll get over it though, I'm sure daddy won't be to hard on her
Couple of things I wondered Why was Carberry not on Kid Cassidy in the last? Also, what the hell happened with the Gold Cup footage? Bob's Worth was scrubbed along 5L behind the leading pair going round the final bend. They zoomed in on those 2 outfront Long Run and SDC going round to the second last and I assumed they'd kicked on and I was beat. Suddenly the zoom out and Bob's Worth is 1L off and going best. Shocking camera work.
I was waiting outside the course for a bus to arrive and a tout, also waiting for said bus - for different reasons I might add, came up and started chatting and asking for tips. I gave him BW. Hope he got on LOL.
Also SWC simply is not strong in the finish. McCoy and Geraghty completely outdrove him up the hill imho. I would love, just once, to see a pro jock on Long Run just to see what happens.
Poor girl is only 18. Imagine the feeling at that age, thinking you are about to win at the Cheltenham Festival. Ecstatic proud parents cheering home their daughter, dreams about to be realised. Shattered. Poor girl was crying her heart out. I really felt for her. And I would have felt exactly the same had I backed the winner. I'm too empathetic sometimes.
A bold statement I know, but I actually think if Geraghty had riding Long Run throughout his career, he'd have 3 Gold Cups to his name, and 3 KGs JMO though
I suppose when you put it like that, it is pretty harsh. Particularly when 90,000 guiness fueled Irish men were cheering like lunatics when she fell off
Cheers dexter, not gonna lie day 4 has saved my bacon. Chapoturgeon jumped terribly and ran out of a place and McCoy should have kicked on earlier on sir des champs but not gonna blame him got that he's never mounted the horse before he finds more and more in the same fashion as bobs worth but giving he was 6 lengths clear he should kicked on further. I'm absolutely delighted though and have been buying the drinks all night to compensate for me being so anti-social all week!
