I doubt anyone would be willing to match what we paid for him in the summer at the moment. In any case, I'm getting really bored of these Gaston to *insert club* stories, there seems to be a new one almost every week.

Right now, I honestly wouldn't be fussed if he left.

Not sure he'd accept a pay cut to move to Arsenal anyway :1980_boogie_down:

Still don't think he's had enough chances to prove himself. With the warmer weather coming I think he'll shine a little better.

Would hope he's given a chance to adapt to the English game before we sold him, but some people don't like giving players a chance.

I do wonder if Gaston's agent, who reportedly waived a fee to force the transfer to Saints through, is now doing all he can to get a move in the summer, so he gets his payday after all.

Mauricio said that Gaston is a talented player who is still young and will be a top player. He added that he had come into a new league and country, had 2 injuries and personal problems (a bereavement, I believe)...that's a lot in a short space of time. I think we all expected a lot because it was a lot of money for us (though not in the PL scheme of things), but we should give the guy a chance. It's not like he has been rubbish, is it?

A number of us were concerned that his build up was too great. I've noticed that he doesn't walk on water, nor has he turned water to wine yet some fans are ready to crucify him.

He's a young guy, settling in a very different culture who has had problems with injury as well as personal problems. I think he'd suit Arsenal, and it's no coincidence that he had one of his better games against them at ours. A fit, focused Gaston Ramirez is going to be an awesome player. I'd like to see him continuing to develop as a Saint not a Gunner, thanks.

I expect start getting into gear next season an really showing us what he can do consistently once he has settled and gets a pre season under his belt. We all want to see gaston out in a shift like villa home but I think with some quality additions in the summer that are more on his wavelength he will become a lot more instrumental.

The guy has a touch of magic. Something rare. I hope he gets to show what he can do with us.

Think he will prove a great signing once he adjust to the hustle and bustle of the premier league. He's clearly got talent, but not yet set the world alight but he's still very young and will only get better.
    Give him a chance lads?

Maybe he could show us that he is more than a match for Coutinho.

For those that think he doesn't contribute, the Fantasy Premier League site gives the following minutes per point for our attacking players:

    Lambert 16.2
    Ramirez 18.4
    Puncheon 19.5
    Rodriguez 21.3
    Lallana 24.5

These points are based on assists, goals and performance bonus points (as statistically calculated by Opta). It shows that when he is on the pitch, he's contributing to our attack. He just needs a decent run and to not tire our so soon but he's certainly pulling his weight attack-wise when he is on the pitch!

    He needs to stay!

You cannot add something like this and then fail to tell us what your three year old thinks will happen with Ramirez in the off-season.

I'll keep saying it. Ramirez is quality and will be a top, top player.

The other poster can give his 3 year old's opinion but I'll do an anecdote (and it is a true one).

I bought my wifey some French Connection heels the other week.....Not cheap. When she tried them she looked like she was struggling to get them on.

I asked her 'Do they fit' and she replied 'They have to fit'.

By that I mean that before we signed Gaston it became a 'must' as the saga went on. Some people were already changing their names and avatars before we had even signed him yet he hasn't 'yet lived' up to expectations.

Like the shoes because of the prestige they/he 'must fit.

I am not a fan at the moment but hope he does live up to the billing with time because if he does live up to the hype that surrounded and stills surrounds him then it can only be good for Southampton but objectively at this precise point I don't think the club can turn down an offer of equal that to which we paid.

Settling in? He cost a lot more than Coutinho!!!!
