DT, I loved the Banana Splits and I'm right with everyone else that had a crush on Ms Bastedo. You're a lucky man to have known her up close and personal, as it were. I used to also have the hots for the girl who played the widow of Marti Hopkirk, she was a pretty lass too. Imaz, I love lesbians too. Every home should have one.
No 10 cigarettes and cigarette papers made without glue which was a right pain. Alfa cigarettes costing 160 lire for 20 which was about 6 to 10p at the time. Afghan black, Lebanese red, microdots and so much, much more. Proper quality back then.
This was my first rockchick crush...
The worlds a depressingly small place today now as well. You actually have to fly to a war zone to get somewhere 'challenging' for tourists. Or where there's no Gap. I'm crap when it comes to family holidays, bin most suggestions with 'went there in the 80s, it'll be crap now with all the tourists, I'll just be bored and irritable'. I long for the days when you would take a stick of State Express 555s and a bottle of Johnnie Walker Red Label, sell them on the black market outside Rangoon airport and have enough local currency to live, very well, for 2 weeks in Burma. You're right Dave, our generation have done stuff its literally impossible to repeat now. Having said that, there's still an excess of beautiful and interesting places that I haven't been, and the day I stop wanting to go is the day I might as well give up. But the ****ers who ruined Bali and most of Thailand have a lot to answer for. Fiona Fullerton. Can't remember what she was in but I was an avid watcher.
Those had fantastic roadholding for their day. Made in Napoli, proper quality! Bit late but a great film full of Alfas:
She was in Angels I think, as well as one of Roger Moore's bond films. Has the old Robinson Crusoe series had a mention?
I had a Sud sprint once a long time ago, battery tray rusted through and battery fell out and I couldn't work out why it wouldn't start. No need to scrap it, it just sort of 'dissolved'..only have the steering wheel as a momento
I had an ancient one when I lived in Milan. Tried to drive it back to London one Christmas, no idea how it made it over the Alps, ended up abandoning it in Paris. Took the plates off to prevent removal fees.
Roller, about time you arrived on this outstanding thread. Track back a bit, I posted the Robinson Crusoe theme a couple of pages back.
Still got them? Government property iirc! Don't know what caused the rust problems but FIAT with the 131 and Lancia with the Beta fastback had huge problems. Rumour was that part of the Togliattigrad Lada deal was steel from the Soviet Union that rusted under the paint. Everything rusted back then though.
Wrong thread this Imaz but the miafiori 131 sport was a beast as was the beta HPE volumex. That was a very cool car back in the day. I'd be amazed if any are still in the road
Saturday night TV! Chips, tj hooker (Heather Lockyear), Magnum, Hawaii five o, Dempsey and Makepeace Or Sunday afternoon- Hart to Hart!
I always loved that theme, cheers Stan. I suppose I should actually scan through to avoid repeating old memories, even though we are probably all heading rapidly towards alzheimers and no one would actually notice....
