I think you've got one helluva point
Also, I have to say, if Carey after all these years of pro football really needs a manager to teach him stuff, then I hope he has a knack for TV punditry, because he wont be going into management.

As a measure of what a manager can or cant do, you need only look at Barca..
Gardiola left the club with a playing staff the envy of world football.
Serial La Ligua winners, resident European Champions, and irresistible pace setters for style and panache, now the spell has been broken and Real are running away with the league (and that is WITH Messi).
Leeds had a similar experience when Revie left in the 70s, United ended up in the
2nd division after Sir Matt. Liverpool are the exception when Dalglish followed Paisley followed Shankly.

S O'D already has that authority to completely rebuild the squad in fact that was one of the things he liked about the club that we had moved closer to his way of thinking he wants a squad of younger people who he can ingrain with his playing ideals.

"Like I said there are no big name managers queueing up to come here so maybe you and redprintt should have a go and see how you get on!

Banksy, I'd give my left arm mate"

'Wizered was an almost lone voice in his battle to persuade everyone that Millen was not up to the job'

    Lone voice ????
Not how I remember it. Do I have to trawl back for proof ?

'Like I said there are no big name managers......................etc' - was ironic.

As was 'I'd give my left arm mate'.
    Or that's how I took 1For's comment.

Anyway keep your fingers crossed for SILVINIACO CONTI - Gold Cup tomorrow.
And Bob's Worth in a reverse forecast.

"Wizered was an almost lone voice in his battle to persuade everyone that Millen was not up to the job and took some abuse on the way from some, He was ultimately right! I have never heard him crowing on about it once on here.."

Lone voice, you are kidding right?

Not sure how old you are Banksy, but I believe your memory is failing you mate.......
There were plenty on here, wanting Millen out and I for one was blasted over my comments to get him out.....in fact I think you'll find they were worse than they were for Del!!

Wow Banksy, What and me giving my left arm is not irony?? What is then?

Redprintt....Good luck with the Gold Cup tomorrow mate!! May put a pound on myself..lol

Saw it win last time in the mud at Cheltenham and rain forecast tomorrow.
Just don't think it has the class to win a Gold Cup though.

    Good luck.

No Wize wasn't the only one to have concerns I said wrong man wrong time nothing against Millen but I thought it was not the right time for him and he needed to get his feet wet lower in the leagues I wanted us to go for S O'D proir to Coppoff but was delighted when SC decided to become manager as I thought he would give us direction, which he did but it was downwards.

No, wrong again, I was on the board from the beginning mate best you trawl back you will find loads of them...........from when he was FIRST APPOINTMENTED and I didn't stop.

I think Redprintt, AD, JG and plenty of others can back that up.

What a bunch of drivel get realistic.

You need young unproven players to balance the books and the allowable spend as a percentage of revenue, given the current debt situation O Driscoll has not really got much of a budget to play with, whichever league you are playing in next year.

He will have to shift some of the high earners off of the wage bill before he can bring in fresh players.

I do agree with the comment that you will struggle next season whatever happens.

Perhaps a drop to L1 will allow you to rebuild a stronger squad as another poor year in the championship would be painful to endure. View attachment 22219

Sorry where is the drivel that is more or less what we have been saying for ages. Sean O 'Driscoll has always managed to get teams playing good football on a budget he proved that at Bournemouth and Doncaster I was impressed when after he was appointed here the former chairman of Bournemouth was interviewed in which he said Sean had worked marvels at the club without more than a couple of pennies to rub together and that had the club been able to raise some cash he might have taken them a lot further.
As for next season I will wait to see who Sean brings in and ships out before making any predictions also I will wait til I see which league we start next season in as I still believe we can complete the great escape.
