Outstanding Sooper...green shield stamps, The Prisoner !!!! Remember The Golden Shot ('Bernie, the bolt...") All Gas and Gaiters (2 elderly priests and 1 younger stupid one....did Father Ted ever credit it..) Roald Dahl's Tales of the Unexpected Z Cars Softly Softly the Post Office Tower being the tallest building in London the Labour Party and TUC conferences being broadcast in full and actually being exciting because of the arguments the West Indies cricket team. Lillee and Thomson, the dull thud of leather hitting Brian Close's head Lesley Anne Down in Upstairs Downstairs when mopeds weren't retro, and loads of 16 year olds had them no M25 or M40 ....time to rest my fevered brain.

Great post Secret, had to add my bit! I'm a 60s 70s kid. My favorite TV series (which I still watch to this day thanks to the DVD) is Patrick Magoohan in The Prisoner, simply the best! Dads Army, match of the day and many more. I remember me and my mates going to Saturday morning pictures to watch ZULU! one would pay in while the rest waited round the back of the cinema for him to come and push the bar and let us all in, great days. anyone remember the great powdered egg? we used to have it scrambled on toast! I could go on all day, If someone said to me you could go back and spend the rest of your life in the 70's I'd bite his hand off!!!
I would have guessed Shakin Stevens Col, cheers for the Suzie Quatro reminder Chris Norman solo in the 80's is one of my fav artists from the era.
We didn't need real snow back then, we had it on the telly most of the time, so dad spent a lot of time up on the roof shouting down " Is that any better?" It never really was no matter which way he twisted the aerial. And those big glass TV valves, which used to hum so loudly, and staring out the window waiting for the Television mechanic to arrive, and when he did we all sat around in wonder staring at him as he removed the moulded panel from the back and did very little else. I think my whole childhood was spent in expectation of a clear picture and signal, never arrived. Bliss? Val Doonican, The Spinners, Black and White Minstrel show, Mrs Mills, 'Open the Box' with Michael Miles, younger generation don't know how lucky they are......
In addition to the Flashing Blade and White Horses, this was a perennial of kids TV during the endless summer holidays.... I never saw any of these series all the way through, because, of course, we were always out doing stuff in the fresh air. Easy to keep the rose tints on, but should also remember that the prevailing colour scheme was brown, with a splash of orange, things, especially British made cars, were very unreliable, central heating was far from universal (30 layers of blankets and eiderdowns needed in winter in my Nan's house), there was little choice available, food was generally awful, bomb scares and real bombs an everyday occurrence, and everything was really, really slow...... Would I turn the clock back........undoubtedly, if only to be free of the tyranny of the 24 hour info stream, mobiles, computers and TV. How productive we would be without these constant distractions.... Plus, of course, the clincher. QPR were ****ing brilliant back then.
How about the snooker: "If you are watching this in black and white, the green ball is just behind the blue ball." Classic!
Tiswas was head and shoulders above Swap Shop - and Sally James >>>> The Philbin Girl. I remember when they had the school choir that sung "Grandma we love you" - and The Phantom Flan Flinger and Flanderella pied them half way through their song. They always had cooler bands on like the Specials and the Beat in the cage as well. Been all downhill for Tarrant and Henry since then really
Did I miss the mention of Thunderbirds and its predecessors Supercar and Fireball XL5? The original Lost in Space series? The Waltons. My Favourite Martian. I dream of Genie (and we all did). The Avengers...
