http://www1.skysports.com/football/...rpool-s-rivals-that-his-club-are-on-the-march Brendan Rodgers has warned Liverpool's rivals that his club are on the march Brendan Rodgers has warned Liverpool's rivals for a top-four finish that his side are improving all the time. The 2012/13 campaign has been a slow-burner for the Anfield outfit, but they appear to have hit their stride at just the right time. Three straight wins, including an impressive 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur last time out, have fired Liverpool into the race for UEFA Champions League qualification - or a Europa League place at worst. The Reds are still seven points off the pace at present, but Rodgers says they will be ready to pounce if those above them start to wobble heading down the final straight. He said: "The teams above will know they can't be making any slip-ups - not only because of us, but for themselves. "This is the stage of the season when you want to win games, and you have to win them. "Our recent run of form shows without doubt we're a team which is improving and developing. "The result against Tottenham showed the further enhancement of that, and we have to maintain that form to keep moving forward." Concentrate Rodgers added: "People know now we're a different team compared to the start of the season, for sure. "There is a different mentality now, but there is no point in us getting carried away and looking too far ahead. "We can only concentrate on ourselves and get as many victories as we can." -------------------------------------------------------------------------- That's us dropping points to Southampton then.
Sorry guys but I jinxed us well before the Tottenham result and Rodgers' press conference. For the last month I have been visiting the Southampton board and pointing out after every result that they are no further away from the relegation zone than when they sacked Adkins.
We'll win this weekend, can feel it in my old bones, or maybe it's just the cold I'm feeling My only concern is teams going over the top or down the sides of our midfield and getting at the back line, it has caused us problems!
Hmm. As I read it, these are the only words directly attributable to him. Fairly measured assessment of our season so far, and what we should be looking to achieve by the end of it. Nothing about "on the march" or the hyped-up expectations that he'll now be accused of.
What BR says has no impact on our performance. it's like when some said about rafa's press conference caused us to not win the league that year, nonsense. Positivity raises morale, that's the only fact I care about Higher morale often improves results.
It's not about any of that. It is about the scientifically proven phenomenon known as the jinx! We need an astronomer to read the stars asap! RHC's thoughts are useless now that the LHC is shutdown. I wouldn't listen to anything he says.
We have improved. Whether it is too late remains to be seen. Its much harder to move up a spot the higher in the table you are. We can look greedily at Arse from beneath as they have bad match after bad match... but we can't expect them to keep failing. Does seem to be tempting fate... there is more hope than there was... but Rodgers is risking sticking his foot in his mouth here. There again... Rodgers seems to be an eternal optimist.... probably why he was the one that took the job.
