Hello, hope one or two of you can give me some advice.

Was planning to go to the Wigan v Swansea game on the above date - my grandson, a Swans fan, has never seen them away, and so, weeks ago, I splashed out on rail tickets (from South Wales to West Yorkshire, where I live, and back). Bought them in advance because it's a lot cheaper that way.

Anyway, have just noticed that Wigan have mucked things up by getting through to the next round of the FA cup, so the match I had lined up is now postponed until May, which is no good to me.

Looking around at fixtures for that day I see that your fixture against Wednesday is by far the tastiest (and nearest to where I live), but clearly, with it being a local derby and all, I think I'm going to have trouble getting tickets for it. So, to cut this long story a bit shorter, my question is: realistically, how much chance is their of me getting to see this game? Are ST/loyalty card holders likely to scoop up all the tickets? Do casual, turn-up-on-the-day fans have any chance of getting tickets? etc.

    Cheers in advance.

    Firstly, welcome to our board!

Next the main topic, I'm fairly sure as long as you book when they go on general sale (a week on Tuesday I believe) you'll be fine. If he's a young un i recommend going In the family stand(part of the east stand) though as swearing is usually heard in the kop (north).

Hopefully you both enjoy yourselves and maybe start supporting us instead of the Swans (joking).

You could turn up on the day, but you will need to provide proof of address. Far better to register on line at the club site and get them to post out tickets, tickets go on general sale on line about two weeks before the game.

Cheers Joycey and Chip Van - have checked the official LUFC site out.

It's a good one - being able to pick your seat very easily. Will register tomorrow.

Think I'll risk the Kop end. Have been in there once before. Quite a few years ago. I like a bit of adrenaline and atmosphere. Grandson is 17 and probably hears worse swearing off his mam!

I was lying earlier about this game being the nearest one to me on that day: there is a fixture even closer, namely Bradford Park Avenue v Droylesden :emoticon-0102-bigsm. No bloody way am I going to that, though.

On a side note: by a bizarre coincidence, my stepson lives in the same small street in Cwmbwrla, Swansea where the great John Charles was born - maybe I should change my mind and go in the John Charles stand.

Anyway, thanks once again for the advice.

You will get a better choice of seat in the south stand. Go for South stand upper, behind the goal. Also it is near where the wendies will be. There will be no trouble but the singing/taunts are better in ss.

Cheers, Chip Van, I'll bear that in mind.

(By the way, I hope your username has got nothing to do with that notorious chip van fire at Odsal Stadium in the 80's!)

You would be better off going to the Bradford Park Avenue game IF you want to see better football.
