AVB: "The organization was poor, which was...down to my selection." Good on him.

I'll enjoy beating Inter twice in two tries, even if this time we hardly deserved it.

The funniest thing about this game was that we passed it around very sharply for decent periods. But a high line, no pressing and tired legs is a suicidal combination.

I thought Ade's effort was decent, by the way, certainly better than some. Defoe comes to mind.

    Arrogant ****! <grr>

Nice to see that he understands why we were so ****e tonight. I'll let him off if we don't make similar mistakes against Fulham.

  6. That's really good to hear, I was after penitence and appear to have got it.
I agree that Ade worked pretty hard throughout - in the 2nd half and through extra time with little or no support.
All in all a really inconsistent and generally poor team performance all round

By 10pm, are Spurs going to be the only English team left in Europe?

  8. You are joking, Spurm I hope????
He seemed to get better in extra time - and after the bang on the head - but for the 90 he wasn't great!!

Relayer,I said during the first leg that three wasn't enough, that we needed a fourth. David Pleat said it too and he was mocked. 1-0 wasn't enough for safety against Lyon either. In the PL we are winning by one goal and so imo we are falling short of best form by one goal. I looked at how many we MISSED in the first leg and gathered that we are not as fluid as we should be which is why I advised caution before the match. I was prepared for this sort of performance by looking at how many chances we missed in the first leg.
So in the next round just say we should have scored one more.

His defensive work from out wide was pitiful. Much better after Lennon came on, but he needs to start in the middle and bloody stay there, from now on.

Agree with all of that. Particularly Ade and not pressing while playing a high line.

When we get a clear two goal win I'll be happy. This makes Fulham a very difficult match now.

Not unless Bucharest scores another, I think. They've clearly learned all the lessons AC Milan, Bayern and us have provided in protecting leads.

Go back and watch Gallas. Adebayor was magnificent compared to him.

I didn't see the whole game, but yes, he was looking very sluggish. Probably wondering what the **** was going on - like most of us!!...Big tactical **** up by AVB - just hope he's learnt something.

  18. I had Dembele as my 6th worse player - see my list - the point I was making was that you were being unfair on Ade.

My match ratings (sort of...) would be:
Friedel: Good, Walker: Awful, Gallas: Dire, Vertonghen: Decent, Naughton: Meh.
Dembele: Crap, then alright when moved inside, Livermore: Poor, Parker: Leggy, Sigurdsson: Our best player on the night.
Defoe: Anonymous, Adebayor: Rubbish, then ok after Defoe went off.
Subs: Holtby: Terrible out wide, then less bad, Lennon: Dangerous and worked hard, Caulker: Did ok, but wasn't the right sub.

Overall: **** tactics and some really naive and weak defending.
