Came across this on our OS forum which I thought may interest you. Its a email regarding sainsburys not being called in by Mr Pickles with the reasons why. With some of the reasons stated, I think it should now become much easier for you to get the go ahead for AV. Well thats how I read it anyway <ok>

    Here is a copy....

I will say an early congrats now <ok>

Dont think this applies to VG laws, but I may be wrong...

He cant change a badly conceived law on his own however much he may like to.

If we want to see Bristol City become a good Championship or maybe even a Premier League side we NEED Ashton Vale. In my mind it is the top priority, above our Championship status.

I've been to a number of stadiums, and I can say for sure that Ashton Gate is no longer fit for purpose. Even if we renovated the stadium we will be spending money improving a dated stadium, and one that few people like to return to. Hell, the BBC and Sky can't stand coming down to Ashton Gate because they basically end up filming from a tent.

Lansdown is all business, and his vision for Ashton Vale is one that I firmly believe will pay off. Not only will it give us a stadium worthy of a Championship team, it will allow us future growth and for the first time genuine alternative revenue streams. Most importantly, it puts Bristol on the map. With Ashton Vale and UWE emulating American universities by becoming the first UK university to have its own stadium both Bristol clubs might get some attention, whether it be from potential fans, or from foreign investors that are looking for a project. In my mind, this is Lansdown's ultimate goal, and Ashton Vale is the first piece in the puzzle.

If we don't get Ashton Vale I think Lansdown will sell. He'll update Ashton Gate a bit, but it'll still be a poor stadium by Championship standards and with no hope of a new stadium he'll likely cut his losses.

Sorry guys, I didnt forget about the VG issue, I thought half of the land was allowed and other half was the VG?? Meaning you could still have the stadium but the nimbeys were appealing against that. If all is VG then I am sorry, I miss understood. May not be as easy as I implied. Sorry again <ok>

I've been to 90+ stadiums and a redeveloped AG will do fine.

Bigger minds than mine have noticed it is not identified what the Ashton Vale business plan is and who gets what. Investors want money out, so wont the business partners for Ashton Vale want theirs?

FOREIGN investors!!! Wouldn't invest in BCFC at AV unless they could take control and the club is set up to make sure that can't happen.

If Lansdown is all business he should get out of City because he isn't go to make out of BCFC or the rugby so I can't see that full stop. Says he is in it for the long run no need to doubt himlike you are so he is sticking with City come what may.
