Apologies if this has already been done.

CHARLES N'ZOGBIA is understood to be keen on making a return to Newcastle United this summer.

And Magpies boss Alan Pardew is believed to be eager to make his second coming a reality.

United – who have been continually linked with the winger for over six months – twice bid for N’Zogbia on January 31 in an attempt to beat the clock after Andy Carroll’s £35m sale to Liverpool, but Wigan chairman Dave Whelan turned down both offers.

And it has also emerged today that United have cooled their interest in Cardiff City striker Jay Bothroyd – available on a free from the play-off flops – while West Ham and England striker Carlton Cole is no longer on Pardew’s radar.

Pardew has remained tight-lipped on his targets, but did say today: “For us next year the most important thing is to improve.

“I’d like to add the offensive players we need at this level – the kind of players who can get bums off seats.

“We’re competing with Champions League clubs to get them, but hopefully we’ll get one or two in, and keep the basis of the squad we’ve got here.

“The players have been absolutely fantastic.

“We’ve got good players here, and we’re trying to secure them.”

N’Zogbia has been in blistering form for relegation-haunted Wigan in the last few weeks and, even if the Latics stay up, the 24-year-old is ready for pastures new.

Wigan face Stoke on Survival Sunday at the Britannia Stadium in what is almost certain to be N’Zogbia’s last game for Roberto Martinez’s men.

However, United would face competition for his signature from Liverpool, Aston Villa, Tottenham, Fulham and Sunderland.

N’Zogbia left Tyneside under a cloud in January 2009 in the midst of what proved to be a failed fight against relegation.

And to rub salt into the wounds for Geordie fans, he opted to head for a side with an average attendance of 16,000 – the worst in the Premier League.

United picked up £6m for the player back then, with Ryan Taylor coming the other direction.

  2. I'd have him back in a heart beat for the right price and the right wages, but i don't think i'd offer him 50k a week like Tiote/Barton and the most vital players.

I'm more excited with the Carthorse Cole bit.

I think N'zog would want a canny wage like????

  4. Well Nzog came come back but he's not worth the 50k wages IMO. Give him 35k a week or tell him to **** off. I'm sorry but the clubs gotten tougher on this sort of thing now and it's either our way or **** off!!

I think he has matured since he was last here but you just never know. He'll not get away with any ****e with Barton and Nolan around now, and he's not getting the wage cap. He still needs to prove he's going to be a starter in our first 11.

I'd only sign him back if the players that were here when he bailed were okay with it

Zogs would be worth £50k pw easy. Top player, could be world class with the right players around him. If his attitude has improved, which to be fair it looks that way, he'll be a class acquisition.

Very pleased to hear the Carlton Cole rumour has been rubbished mind <ok>

Don't think we'll get Zog for £50 a week mind you, but I'm pleased as hell we're not interested in Bothroyd and Cole anymore.

At 2.54..... Wonderful stuff. Keep watching for the Viduka chip too. Also a great Oba Martins overhead kick at 0.33

    Couldn't resist. <laugh>

Oba's goal along with the one he scored down at Spurs were both great.

Agreed about Cole but why wouldn't you want Bothroyd on a free? He's surely a good player to have as back up !

Bothrody = No better than what we have. <ok>

I'll take him as cover though if we shipped out Lovenkrans/Ameobi, he'll be handy competition/back-up but I'll doubt he'll come here to warm the bench, probably go to Sunderland.. they need a striker or two <whistle>

    I miss Oba <wah>

Even though I hate Man Citeh, I wouldn't mind Michael Johnson coming here. Hes got a really bad injury atm and would never play for citeh in their current line up, quality goal from him there.
