Yes, could do without malaria but we need bugs, moths (!) and flies to sustain the food chain!

When I lived at home, my mother had a small koi pond, the downside of which was that, despite having a waterfall, it was a breeding ground for mosquitoes. The upside was that you could smack them, pick them off your arm (often still alive), and drop them in to the pond for the koi to fight over. Satisfying.

Oh right sweet. Which one are you involved with if you don't mind me asking qwerty? I just emailed the helpers for the Netley Abbey parkrun to see if I can help out for this Saturdays run!

I live near the common so the Soton one, went last week but haven't done many recently because exams/weather/lazy etc. Iwan Thomas can be spotted at Netley sometimes.

Yeah, that's how I know about them actually, seeing him talk about them, so I looked them up and it looks like a pretty good deal. I'll marshall first and then think about trying to run a time that's not too bad. Ultimate aim is sub 20 minutes. But it might take a while to get to that!

That's what I was like really, I cycle around a bit but never took running that seriously, but just turn up for a few weeks and your time will drop through the floor. Both my brothers were faster than me so I kind of got shamed into doing it to be honest.

Tip: don't take Iwan on in a sprint to the line, you will lose.

Ah fair enough. Yeah, well I do run, but tend to run longer slower distances. But I'm assuming people are running pretty hard throughout as it's only a 5k. haha that is going to be my aim then, to out sprint Iwan! Better get training!!
