@Poshminx - if you went to the game last night, you would probably have walked past me stood proudly outside the club shop, arms raised!! So, your whine basically means you acknowledge your team raised their game against us, so yes, we are your Cup Final. Even Baby Red Nose admits it. And are Posh ****? Well, the table doesn't lie. As for Leeds, I know we're mid-table, if you bothered to understand my post you'd realise why. No matter how poor we are, how low we are in the football structure, Leeds are still a BIG club that everyone wants to beat. Even players and managers from Everton, Spurs, Chelsea and Man City have said as much this season. So there!!
I think I remember Warnock saying afterwards that 'poor ol' Norris' was flagging badly. But I may have imagined that. Agree to an extent about Ross. But we just dont have anyone else. Rebuild in the summer!!
I'm sorry you are still unable to acknowledge that you are not our cup final. A cup final happens once or twice a season & for those supporters luck enough to get to one. ..... They know it is a special occasion & look forward to the experience. Yesterday you were just another team that we needed to try & get points from ..... Not some great team who still imagine you are. Had we been playing a cup game against a big club a lot more Posh fans would have made the effort to attend The fact that we are in the championship at all is amazing for a club our size & it's a shame you dont give us the respect that we deserve for such an achievement. Maybe that is why not many fans of other clubs respect you.
Minxy, Posh seemed to raise their game against the current 2 best teams in the division. Maybe you just couldn't get motivated enough to raise your game against mid-table non-entities?
This is what every fan of every club says - "show some humility". We would if so many fans of clubs we don't even remotely care about didn't go round making such a big deal out of us. Every club has fans coming out of the woodwork every time Leeds come to play them, and the little clubs always raise their game against us. Maybe if every club in the country wasn't so violently convinced that we are "dirty Leeds scum" then you might have a point. As it stands, every club hates us and every club wants to beat us. We are a scalp. That is just the way things are and always will be until fans stop making such a big deal out of us. You'd think they'd have stopped already since we're supposedly not famous any more. In fact, so much so that they feel the need to remind us just how not famous we really are. And as a closing note, I feel it is of the highest relevance to point out that a friend of mine at University, an Ipswich Town fan, once declared to me that he viewed their biggest rivals as Norwich and Leeds. I still haven't quite got my head around that one. Words can't describe how few ****s I have to give about Ipswich. If you want us to stop being so "arrogant" then maybe your fans should stop making us feel like the enormous fish in the tiny little pond.
Afternoon all. I'm with Norway. Top 6 isn't yet out of the question, which means Warnock will probably stay for a few weeks yet. But despite the fact that we're only 5pts off playoffs, I think this season is now over. If we can't beat struggling teams like Peterborough, even if they have had some decent results, we don't deserve to go up. I would like to see Hall & Habibou get plenty of game time on Saturday just to see whether or not they should be retained for next season.
Becchio I feel 100% sure he would have scored more than the two goals Morrison has so far chipped in with. He would have certainly scored more than McCormack. When he left we were mid table we are still mid table. Wouldn't it have been nice to bring him off the bench yesterday when we needed a goal. Warnock made no secret priority in the transfer window was a striker, I would not have had a problem signing Morrison and keeping Becchio. Instead we swap one for the other and bring in Habbibou who is so useless that even Warnock dare not show us just how bad he is so he keeps him on the bench. No disrespect to Peterborough, for a team bottom of the table and having lost their star player Boyd any team hoping for promotion should be beating them at home.
Morisons strike rate is 3 in 8 for us so pretty similar to becchio and he hasn't had any penalties, he's also contributed more to the team than becchio
Morrison and Becchio up front then, I wasn't Becchio's biggest fan but selling him was stupid, coming off the bench with 30 minutes to go you would always fancy him for a goal.
I nearly got thrown out last night. There I was sat in the East stand watching the dross being served up in the first half. The entire team packed into the right hand side of the pitch. Warnock and Varney nowhere to be seen on the left to give an outlet to stretch Peterboroughs defence and eventually I uttered a couple of profanities and a Hitleresque steward was all over me.... I felt vindicated because eventually they moved left and we started to play. Only problem was after we equalised we then only played on the left side of the field with no width or outlet on the right. Conclusion Colin is useless. Couldnt join in with the your dads a cnut and so are you chant aimed at DF, I would have been fighting with barsteward in the orange coat. I think that is me done for this season, and next season I will get a season ticket for me and mrs only if Colin has gone and we have a nett spend of £5 mill on the squad. GFH need to decide are they speculators or the owners of a successful club, they cannot be both in the short term.
Where to start I am a posh fan with an opinion of my own ~ not every fan coming out of the woodwork I would suggest you go back & read the whole thread. I was responding the being told my club was **** & that this match was our cup final. I was trying to explain that this was an arrogance on your fans part & all us little club don't see you as any different to any other big club in this league. When we first came up to the Championship, many, many clubs looked like giants to us. Your name did not stand out as the one to be especially fearful of & certainly as this season has gone on we have been more concerned at the thought of playing the likes of Cardiff, Watford, Hull, Brighton etc. We have to fight for any points we can get at the moment & an away point at Elland Rd was certainly good for us ... although we had chances to make it all three. As I am the only Posh fan that has commented on this thread you are making gross generalization about my club based on a couple of my comments. I have to say I spent a couple of hours happily bantering with fans on here last night & was shown respect despite the gulf in our status as a club. So I can't see why you assume I hate you. In fact Tony Currie was one of my all time favourite players. So my only objection was to the one fan who was ignorant enough to be totally patronizing about my team. Unfortunately you then leapt on the bandwagon too. If you have a problem with me defending my club so be it ~ I'll probably survive without too much sleep loss.
IGNORE HIM. I probably think you did raise your game, but so what. The question you as a Peterborough supporter might be asking is: If you can play as well as you did last night (and you could easily have won) how the hell are you below the lesser teams like Millwall. Your attacking options looked very good. BTW your manager is a C... and so is his dad. Your support was small (midweek accounts for this) but very vocal. 8/10
I say it for the last time - FACT! Your team is ****, and we ARE your Cup Final like it or not. You don't find me on the Posh board because I have no interest in you, yet here you are regaling us with your wit and charm, Two reasons why I don't respect Posh - Baby Scum and Adrian Durham. Make of that what you will,
LOL ..... Printing fact in capitals letters doesn't make it true Think we will need to agree to disagree about the Cup Final ~ you describe it as fact ~ I describe it as delusional thinking We have baby scum .... you have Colin .... hard to choose who got the short straw Don't think you will find many Posh fans who like Adrian .... but we can't be held responsible for him supporting the Posh ... I'm sure you have your fair share of gobby idiots
I've had a good laugh at this thread. FACT - We are all a wee bit delusional. We know we're not such a big club any more, but because we have been, we remain hugely aspirational. No harm in that! FACT - Playing at Elland Road is iconic for many, many 'smaller' clubs, and also for players that haven't played there before. Can be daunting or inspirational for players (sadly, it seems to be daunting for many Leeds players, and inspirational for loads of opposition players). Every other club does raise their game against us, in cup tie fashion. Perhaps not cup final, but definitely cup tie - they just go for it, rather than accepting what the result should be on paper. And so they should! Nowt wrong with that! So you're all a bit right, and a bit wrong. Like every other footie fan. And Minxy, don't mind Marko, we're still trying to house train him. He takes his gingery heid out on all of our visitors. Nothing personal.
