we have been better defense wise since Vidic's return but Vidic's return has made Rio Ferdinand get his form back because Vidic and Ferdinand's partnership is one of the best in the world, they know each other's play very well, i believe he is back to his best, he might have lost a yard or 2 pace but his reading of the game is still great.

Rio's form recently has been great, i don't know whether you like him or not ( i think u hate him ) you have to throw your bitterness in this and admit his form has been great in recent weeks.

he does deserve a recall but like i said before, the way he has been treated by england manager roy hodgson, i don't know how he could play under him. even though it will be a joke if he is left out again i hope he gets left out so he can focus on united and it benefits us. I don't want him to play for England under roy hodgson' scharge. I lost respect for Roy for hsi rio treatment and i'm sure im not the only one.

Leighton Baines has been the best English defender this year.

No but saying that, I bet Cole will still be England's starting left back (undeservedly) instead of Baines.

And I'd prefer Rio to not get called up, more chance of him getting injured and tired playing extra international games. Plus from the England team point of view they should probably be looking at playing younger cb's that could play in the next 2-4 years and giving them international experience rather than playing older cb's like Rio that will probably not be around in that time.

Thats good news for young, He needs games after his return from injury and he can get games for england and then come back to united fully match fit, i laugh at people who say Downing should of been in there ahead of Young, even though Downing is playing alright, (he still goes missing in most part of the game) il still rather have a half fit Young over Downing.

Ferdinand getting an England call up, he must feel vindicated but he should say: thanks but no thanks. Fitness wise, it is a Ledley King case, isn't it? Anyway, up front, England are experiment with a young lineup, so why not do the same at the back. I think Smalling with Dawson/Jagielka will do for now, and they can be replaced by Caulker when he's fit ( isnt he injured?).

I'd rather Rio hadn't been selected for England as my priority is United but let's be honest, he's still the best central defender in England and he's been a class above the rest of the "blockers" for a decade. Only bigoted Chavski morons who hate him for being the brother of someone who is provocatively black and the usual bitter Scouse twats would disagree.

agreed, Rio was just brilliant today and has been fantastic this season.

i laugh at them Chelsea fans and them bitter scouse twats saying Rio is past it.

when he's playing, he's calm, he hardly starts panicking and in dangerous area's he doesn't show no nonsense just boots the ball to safety, even though he ain't the captain, he still acts like one and is a leader he organises the defense well, he always makes the defense stronger.

    He is a leader.

I'm glad he's got his new contract, but hope Hodgeson will grow some balls & start building a proper England team, rather than just following the mistakes of others.
This Rio situation is not just embarressing, its damaging.

I agree. Just for once I'd like an England manager to actually liaise with the clubs long term over the management of the players, rather than calling up players with no warning. It wouldn't have been too hard to give Utd a bell a month or so ago and tell then Rio was likely to be in consideration for the squad if a few players got injured. It's been obvious to every man and his dog that we've been managing the games Rio plays in, and given he's played three in the last two weeks we were always likely to want to rest him this weekend.

They did the same with Ledley King in his last years at Spurs. The guy never trained, so he could have been called to the England HQ for a quick check up at any point during the season. And yet they call him up a few days before the game and everyone's chasing their arse around trying to sort it out. Scholes was another example - retired for the best part of a decade then gets the call to come out of retirement a few days before the Euros. Then the England management are surprised he turned them down.

With a set up like that, it's no wonder players like Scholes, Carragher, Carrick and Foster have ruled themselves out over the years.
