I would too......and I did watch the Norwich game

    Clyne, Fonte, Yosh, Shaw
    Cork, Schneiderlin
    Punch, Davis, Lallana
    Lambert

    Goalkeeper picks himself.

Totally agree. I'm not saying that Davis is necessarily better but everyone else seems to play better around Davis than around Ramirez. I would also have Puncheon for Lallana. That also gives us a creative bench should we need to change things near the end.

Usually, they become Pope before they become Saints.

Have to admit, when Liverpool and in particular Suarez play well, they look easily a top 6 team. Really would be happy with a draw from this one.

People are acting as though davis completes our team, one decent performance against man city doesn't mean he is suddenly our saviour.

Now that is a match thread. Impressive, DTLW. Competing with the Liverpool one by any chance (also pretty exhaustive)? Can't have their fans coming on our board and seeing a two liner...

either a Liverpool capitulation giving us a 2-0 win or Suarez running Jos ragged and a 4-0 Liverpool win.

I wonder what Lawro will predict...............

Strangely optimistic for this one. We're at home and our style of play could work well against Liverpool. We've struggled against teams that sit deep and counter with quick, early balls to the flanks, and I can't see Liverpool adopting that tactic. We've lost our spark over the last few games and Liverpool are in good form, but if they have an off day I can see us taking all three points.

I think Ramriez has rightly been given the last couple of games to try and find some form but he has continued to look out of sorts. I thought he was frustrating against QPR and Norwich, frequently losing the ball when a simple pass would suffice, and he goes to ground too easy when a foul is never going to be awarded. Besides, the pressing game is going to be crucial so I would start Davis. I do think Ramirez will come good given time, though.

I've said it before but I really wish we had an experienced but slightly less talented pro to come in for Shaw. I've tried to back Fox but I bregrudgingly I find myself agreeing with the consensus that he's a liability at this level. Shaw has also cost us goals, though, and will cost us more if we play him week in and week out for the rest of this season. I'd like to see him rested for this game. Not exactly sure how to do that though! Perhaps Maya at RB again and Clyne at LB?

    So my team would be:

    Maya Fonte Jos Clyne
    Cork Morgan
    Puncheon Davis Lallana
    Lambert

I thought Ramirez was one of our better attacking players against Norwich.

I agree, but it doesn't necessarily mean that the team is better with him. It reminds me of the Newcastle team in 1995/96, I think. They were a superb team and looked odds on to win the title. Then they bought Tino Asprilla. He was probably their best player for the remainder of the season but as a team they never played as well as they did without him and eventually lost the title.

Thought Yoshi played really well against Norwich with a couple of last gasp stops, he is also good with either foot altough he does give the ball away alot. Coutinho would turn and twist him to pieces though, Clyne on the right and hoping Shaw has a better game against Johnson this time

Our record when he starts is 4 wins, 7 draws and 6 losses...19 points in 17 games. When he's a sub, we have 4 points in 4; when he doesn't play at all, we have 5 points in 8. Small sample sizes, obviously, and nothing that conclusively suggests that he wins us matches regularly, but the numbers also don't suggest that he's having a negative impact on performances.

Everything is in place for us to win, players clicking and good form and a real chase on for top 5. But we're Liverpool and we like to **** up randomly for no reason, so we will lose this weekend, I can feel it.

Interesting and surprising actually. Of course stats can be misleading in all sorts of ways but, admittedly, not what I would have thought.

He probs looked 'one of our better attacking players' because he doesn't give much opportunity for the other attacking players to 'look better'. He either goes to ground hopefully/desperately, doesn't pass and loses the ball or passes to nobody.

Davis is only 10% the player Ramirez is however it gives 3 other Saints more attacking options when he isn't playing.

Maybe he will come good but at the moment all I can say is.............Mirandinha!!!!
