This is to stop the insane thread of players we 'should go for'

Players you can genuinely see the club going for.....

    For example...
    ....Graham :emoticon-0137-clapp

    Messi, Defoe, Parker, Crouch :emoticon-0149-no:

Clyne (Palace) Mkandwire (Millwall) Morgan (Forest) Morrison (Millwall) Maynard (Bristol C) Long (Reading) Sharp (Doncaster) McGugan (Forest) Ambrose (Palace) Tracey (Preston) Earnshaw (Forest)

Just a few from the Championship who could possibly play at a higher level.

I think that thread you refer to is about players that have been linked to QPR by the press.
    Messi, Defoe, Parker, Crouch::
do you think Crouch is totally out of the question?

-twins, Crouch is definitely out of the question. No way would we spend the money on the transfer fee and wages.

Daniel Sturridge on loan from Chelski (as long as we can play him against them)

DJ Campbell from Blackpool if they can't beat the drop.

Either Walker or Naughton from Spuds (whether loan or permanent)

    Mancienne if Wolves go down

    Upson (wages pending) from WHU

Keeper from one of the relegated sides - possibly Kingston from Blackpool or Al Habsi / Kirkland from Wigan (as no 2 to Paddy)

Sébastien Bassong seeks Spurs move after journey from 'heaven to hell'

Sébastien Bassong has revealed the frustration of his journey from "heaven to hell" at Tottenham Hotspur, which has led him to seek a transfer away from the club this summer.

The Cameroon centre-half, who joined from Newcastle United in August 2009 for £8m, was an integral part of the starting line-up at White Hart Lane last season, when the club qualified for the Champions League. But he has seen his opportunities dry up this time out and has been an unused substitute on 30 occasions in all competitions.

The 24-year-old has three years to run on his contract but does not expect to see it through, largely because he feels that Harry Redknapp will always prefer his "big names."

"I know football's rules and I know that it's up to the manager," Bassong said. "If he likes someone else more than me, I totally get it. But the fact is that after last season, and what we achieved together, I couldn't even imagine that I would be in this situation.

"I haven't made some huge mistake on the pitch or anything. It's just happened. For a bit, I felt lost because I haven't faced this situation before in my career. I feel that I have gone backwards, like I have gone from heaven to hell."

His admission that he now wants to leave is bad news for Redknapp, with Jermain Defoe also hinting that he may have to review his position at the club after falling out of favour. Bassong would like to remain in England and, ideally, London, where he is settled with his wife and baby daughter.

He added: "I am a guy who simply has to play. I would never just sit there and take the money. I am reaching an age where, if I don't play week in, week out, and if I don't feel real trust in me, then I can't stay, no matter which club it is. This is the situation at Tottenham. I have to try to find a way out because I have to try to play. The only thing I want is to play."

Bassong has been to see Redknapp to discuss the situation and is candid about how he views their relationship. "When you are not playing and when you don't understand the manager's choice, the relationship can't be the best," he said. "I did a charity thing with him once and he was doing a Q&A, and he said to the audience, 'I think Seb hates me,' and I said, 'Yes.' I was joking but when everything is going well ... for example, the relationship between him and Luka Modric is the best or Rafa van der Vaart or William [Gallas], because they are playing and they have nothing to complain about.

"Me, or someone else, we have another relationship. And he is the type of manager who is more focused on the eleven that starts. He is not talking a lot to the others, everyone knows that."

Bassong's irritation has deepened as injuries in central defence have raised his starting hopes only for Redknapp to select somebody else. He has six established options in the position and Bassong has come to consider himself at the bottom of the pecking order.

"It's not just about who is playing well," Bassong said. "We have big names and it's all about the manager, how keen he is on some players or not. There is a hierarchy and it's like you are fighting against a wall. You can hit it and hit it but it will never fall down. That's just the way football is at this club. I am not complaining. It's just a fact."

Bassong feels that Redknapp "understands" the situation and "even if he would like to keep me ... if I keep pushing to find a way out, he's not going to block me."

He is unsure, however, about the attitude of the chairman Daniel Levy. "With him, it's business," Bassong said. "Maybe he would like the money back that he paid for me but as I haven't played this season, my value has gone down. It's a fact."

I think Crouch is definitely on the Radar, or at least David M tweeted that he thought we'd go for him. Him with Graham up front would be a handful.

We need players throughout the team, but I think Warnock is planning to try as many of the first team from this season before going mad in the transfer window. It looks like he'll get people in quickly for the positions that he knows we are weak, but then wait till pre-season starts to see who shows the commitment, hunger and desire to be a premiership player. So we might then buy a few closer to Kick Off in August or even make do until January, which is pretty much his attitude this season.

    Players I think that are realistic and would cover for departments that we are either weak in or where the player we have their already might not be good enough for the premiership;

Samba (blackburn) Big fast central defender, would be good in the middle with either Hill or Connolly
Bridge (Man City) Quality left back, been on loan at West Ham and unlikely to feature again at City.
Routledge (Newcastle) Gone quiet on what's happening after we said a deal was all but done and Newcastle saying they didn't want him.
Pederson (Blackburn) Classy player and hell of a shot on him.
Ambrose (Crystal Palace) I know many don't want him as he turned us down last year. But I admire him for not leaving Palace and showing loyalty, a very rare quality in footballers.
Crouch (Tottenham) Some think this is unrealistic, but with the press saying that even Defoe is going, it's clear that we stand a chance. Rangers supporter, ex-player and Warnocks type of forward.
Bothroyd (the Welsh capitulators) Would rather Bothroyd than Graham, would have been top scorer without the injuries he had.

These are players of the sort I think we need and all within reason. But they are players for positions that I think need replacing, we will need more players as cover too.

Good call on Crouchy Lone and would definitely fit right into NW's modus operandi but I fear the board have already put the kybosh on any such move if the wage cap that is doing the rounds is actually true.

Don't like Bridge but then I don't like anything that has been seen in a Samsung shirt.

Bothroyd: yes please although I think NW will be back in for Graham.

Bridge is a shadow of the player he used to be, JT must really have got inside his head!

Bridge is finished, would rather see Chris Barker back at LR :)

Crouch could happen, but that all depends on wages + how much we are willing to pay. Everyone knows Harry is open to any offers come tranfer windows, the guy just can help himself. Thats why I'd go in with a sneaky £2m punt on Walker, If that fails go straight back in £2m for Naughton.

See we have the Graham bid turned down by Watford. I like Graham and would like to see us test them with another bid, maybe 3 to 3.5m but wouldn't like to see us go any higher than that when you consider an English International like Bothroyd can be snapped up for free.

    Saviola? Yes please.

We only play one up front. I'm not saying that we wouldn't sign Crouch and Graham, but thet certainly wouldn't get to start together. Crouch wages etc...

Samba will go to a top side, Bridge will want too higher wages, Pederson - can't see it happening

I'm not meaning to negative, just realistic!

I don't think that was what JT got into!

If the Mittals take over then there are some big players who will become realistic targets, but it's a bloody big IF...
