Honestly all this chat about Pont- I've seen all of this bullshit from Ireland before.

He has beaten nothing. Don Cossack is slow and a future chaser. Then what did he beat? Busty Brown. He is rated officially 140 but I think I could win the Tour De France on a unicycle before he proves he is really a 140 horse. I certainly wouldn't be running away from this fella at 11/8 just because of some big Mullins talk. I know they like him and I know they are in form, but he is absolutely a chaser in the making and he has yet to get into a fight. He's not a Simonsig type who will cruise away from them- he'll grit it out and Cheltenham isn't where you always want your first battle!

If he wins well he wins well, but I like to take some form alongside the words and as visually impressive as he has looked, he does meet genuine Grade 1 horses tomorrow based on this years form.

I also think pont could well get beaten tomorrow. Ive said it before but i was really taken by the turn of foot showed by the new one last time and if sam can hold onto him a bit longer i can see him winning this as long as the horse is 100%. It looks a very good renewal and i may go e/w on chatterbox as well. Its far too open a race to be taking 6/4 about essentially another irish hype horse. He may well win by 10 lengths on the bridle but not for me

Topclass I've little doubt you're probably are a better judge than the Irish trainers who've had their best horses asses walloped by Pont then <doh> Oh course horses can be bigged up, I've seen it too often myself, but I suspect there's as much susbstance to Pont's form as there is to the New One's. He is a good horse for sure but he was beaten by Fisher's Cross, an out and out 3 miler surely, and to be fair there's been ones banging the drum very, very loudly about him! I just suspect he's the overhyped one this time! As they say the jury's out on him and I look forward till tomorrow to see! I think Pont may be the one living up to the hype and I can see him being a very, very exciting chaser in time too.

To be fair Toppy he beat some decent sorts last time. Sizing Gold seems well regarded by De Bromhead (and looks sure to be much better chaser) and he pissed all over Our Vinnie who beat Rule The World by a head. I still don't understand the Rule The World hype. He's beaten absolutely nothing of note as Champagne Fever was sick.

1 non-cheltenham related 2moro. In the bumper at Huntingdon Master Malt vs Dakar Run. Master malt has run into 2 very decent sorts and goes off fav but Dakar Run is beautifully bred and due to Master Malt being there should go off at a very decent price.

If cheltenham is a success 2moro ill be having a bit on this.

I know what you mean mate, but he has yet to face a proper Grade 1 rival so I don't know what handle the Irish trainers can have on him really. Of course I dont think I'm a better judge. All I am doing is picking up the formbook and saying okay- does that warrant 11/8 to you? And thats what a good Cheltenham debate is all about.

If he wins hard held tomorrow I'll certainly not begrudge him the success and he will be really exciting next season if that is the case :)

BUT until he wins tomorrow, he is just Dunguib mark II. I'm against TNO as well to be honest, although I have begun to warm to him. I just think he'd have relished the Supreme today instead though if I'm being honest because he would stay a strongly run 2m quite well.

Hope its a great race whatever the result <cheers>

I'm very keen to see Champagne Fever's revised mark after today.

You might be right Topclass, you obviously know a fair bit but there often is general antipathy towards Mullins horses and I do find that interesting. It's like a lot of people (on this site) are hoping his best horses come a cropper so they can shout 'another Irish hype horse!' at the top of thier voice. Personally, I pay little heed to where the horses come from (see my siggy;)) it's just not important to me, but everyone can love and not like what they wish. Opinions makes the world go round <ok>

I second this. Absolute nonsense. I'm not a fan of Hurricane or Pont Alexandra, but i certainly am a fan of SDC, Quevega, Back in Focus, Boston Bob to name a few.
