Just thought you chaps might like to be updated. Bristol Rovers' move to a new stadium took a massive step forward today as the government said it would not block the redevelopment of the club's current home. Communities Secretary Eric Pickles has decided not to delay the application by Sainsbury's to build a new supermarket on the site of the Memorial Stadium for further scrutiny. A message from Rovers chairman Nick Higgs published on the club's website this evening said: "I am pleased to confirm that Bristol City Council have been informed by the Secretary of State that he has approved the decision to grant planning permission to J Sainsburyâs for a mixed use development on our existing site. "This is great news as we move one step closer to making a reality of our dream for a new stadium at the UWE Campus."
I think it bodes well for yours lads. There's a great need for private money invested into these sort of projects. Work for the boys!!!! Well and girls!!
Simply can't afford it for every match nowadays. I'm taking my daughter, son-in-law and their tiddlies next Saturday. Birthday presents!
Part of the process for this application to succeed was the organised bombing of the Secretary of State with emails supporting the planning application for Sainsburys. Have you thought that it would make tremendous sense if you could all get together and organise a mass attack on Eric Pickles etc. and bombard him with support for your new stadium. You may remember that the Government over ruled Bristol City Council's planning department and railroaded the spinal road between Lawrence Hill and Arno's Vale. Good God, it's got the same initials, there's a coincidence. This country seriously needs private investment on these projects. You may be surprised how they react. Let's be honest, the dog walkers don't all live in the area and some don't even have dogs. All the email addresses are available on the Not 606 Gas Board. Good Luck!! And thanks for all of the good wishes. Last time I looked we were 2-0 up against top league.
