I think all this venting of bad feelings and repressed hostilities is basically because we all know, deep down, that we are potentially in a lot of trouble. The way we have played for the whole of 2013, it is quite feasible that we will fail to win any of our last nine games and we are in freefall. I think at heart even the 'glass half full' people know this.

However, the 'glass half empty' people, which probably includes me, should recognise that a good performance and a win at Sunderland and suddenly the whole picture changes.

The good news is that they are under an incredible amount of pressure, too. Just look at the post earlier on this board.

Well I hope whoever started building this mountain out of a molehill by crying to Dave the other day, making him feel the need to create this thread in the first place is pleased with themselves <applause>

I have my suspicions who it was, and interestingly I've not seen them comment on this thread as yet. Also if I'm right in who I think it might have been I'd have honestly thought that they wouldn't have been so sensitive about all this and have seen that while sometimes our debates get a little heated there is nothing that could be considered "stepping over the line", certainly not as far as I can see anyway. I've not seen anything particularly personal on here at all, and any time people do fall out on here they quickly make up within a day or so so I'm still sat here scratching my head as to what the bloody problem was in the first place!

Jesus, must be something in Delia's pies!

I never doubted for one moment that irdan was a City supporter, but the point is, sarcastic comments are just fuelling the fire. We get enough of that with the Binners, who see a litte fun to be had to brighten up their miserable season (and not just this one!)

Copied from the board rules sticky -

Basic standards for us has to involve levels of respect for others and the need to avoid personal insults with particular regard to our human differences on gender, age, race, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation; and religious and/or political beliefs.

General banter is fine but trading insults is not. Any thread created on the Norwich City board that descends in to insulting posts will be locked. The protagonist(s) will receive a private message warning them about their future conduct. In the case of a visitor to our board, we will send their board moderator a private message issuing a similar warning about his/her board member.

If any member, Norwich City fan or visiting fan does not read these rules/guidelines and is in breech of them, the fact they did not read this will not be accepted as an excuse or reason.

I think the mods have been consistent here, although it's apparent there is a grey area as to whether a come back can be described as an 'insult'

can we all just take a chill pill and let the dust settle, and not lose anymore members, and let Dave, Maestro and DH deal with an issues?

With that in mind, why wasn't the protagonists sent a private message?

I think generally the mods do a good job, but do find this thread a bit of a bullet in the foot. Not sure what Dave was expecting when he posted it, it was always going to spark up because frankly there has been barely anything said which has broke the rules above.

Maybe worth doing in the future if this situation was to happen again.

As ILD might have said, although probably less politely <laugh>, "don´t tell the rest of us what we´re thinking", your opinion is just that, your opinion, speaking for myself, I don´t think we´re in any sort of trouble at all yet. :)

OK, I'll accept that, it's my opinion that we MAY be in serious trouble and we MAY not win another game this season because we are playing not just like a championship side, but a very bad championship side.

You may have noticed that I also admitted that i might be wrong and that one good performance and result would turn it all around.

Yes, I noticed that, and I agree with you, three points ought to certainly help raise the spirits of some on here, hopefully. <ok>

I've talked to many people a little older than me (not massively older) and a big hangup I've noticed is an apparent paranoia over the 95 season where we completely collapsed (think it was 95, only a nipper back then)

Some people seem to believe in repeating history, anyone feel this way?

ah but we might win and the football is still awful, then we will have two slightly different camps.

    1. Boring football

    &

    3. We are just about safe from relegation

I just don't want another Fulham last day of the season situation, fortunately we have less bottlers in the squad then we did back then.

I remember it only too well but the circumstances were entirely different. Can't say I have tried to make any comparisons to that immense cock up by the Chairman that must not be mentioned.

It was a little bit different back then. All our best player leaving weakened us. Fox and Sutton sold, injury to Gunn....

I know Ruddy is still out (which is similar) but we have a much better back-up than then.

We are a club growing now. Each year we are improving the quality of the players at the club (if not the style of play just now).

In 1995 we felt like a club in decline. We had recently finished 3rd and been on a great European run but Chase seemed insistant on cashing in on that talent. What we didn't know at the time was that the clubs finances were a mess and he probably had little choice. Still, relegation cost us big time and in hindsight the wrong choice was made on that score.
