If Liverpool want to compete at the top it has to have prices closer to the top. Whilst season tickets will still be way below other clubs, the highest rise costing around £4.50 a month and the most expensive one-off tickets around an extra £5 a month, it's not going to break the bank for people already paying the prices. You cannot justify being way behind other clubs in terms of ticket prices and yet still competing with them for top players. Especially with such a small stadium compared to others.

I disagree and haven't been able to afford tickets for some time now. There are other ways of generating revenue but keeping the true fan base is essential.

Having a larger stadium should allow prices to come down there are plenty of clubs who have done this. Bayern being one of them.

Anyone know how much top-cat tickets on kop are now? I havent been since season before last and that was £42 for Chelsea game which I think is very reasonable indeed. Especially compared to London club tickets

Whilst you're spot on about the stadium (it should have been done two decades ago) it's not just about paying wages. At Liverpool we've been paying millions upon millions in agents fees, spent 35 mill on a player we send out on loan 18 months later and have spent an absolute fortune paying off the managers and staff we keep sacking. Its easy to say it's only an extra fiver a month but when it's an extra fiver on top of what is already a lot of money then it makes a difference to a man like me with a family to feed. Add to that the knowledge that it won't be the last increase and where do we as fans (I've been a regular for 25years) draw the line? The club don't care if I fill the seat or someone from Thailand but in ten years time if interest wanes where will the club be without the local support it continues to alienate?

I miss getting hassled by the turnstyle guy for trying to get in as an under 16 despite having a beard, I miss getting shoved around by the horses and I miss the tannoy announcement as you legged it up to the Kop saying all tickets now sold <laugh>

Indeed having a larger stadium will do that but what do you suppose the club does in the meantime? Right now or even when there is disruption to the stadium with attendences falling whilst work is being done on the stadium upgrade?

    This move is essential.

If you can afford the prices now, you can afford the extra £5 a month. It's not going to make or break your ability to feed the family. People will be screaming out for top signings in the summer, so I'm sure they can feel they have contributed to this with a few quid extra a month.

Not surprising since 75% of Everton's income goes on wages. A shocking percentage. No wonder he wants out.

You have a point TOOR we are 9th after all but where does it end? If there is some kind of gesture where the prices go down once the ground is done fans may well feel they are getting something for their money.

Actually people who go the games tend to be the ones who don't "scream" out for anything other than a team that gives 100% every game.

As shown in Germany clubs don't have to continually fleece the fans to run successful clubs or to pay decent wages. To me the rise is simply "because they can, not because they need to". As a club Liverpool has been run ****ing shambolicly for years that's the problem at the club not because tickets have been too cheap.

Simple question...have the last ten rises in our tickets gone on top quality signings? You're ****ing kidding me right <laugh>
