Let's be honest it's the atom bomb of swearing don't really see how it was warranted in the first place, but I'm not one to take the morale high ground in these situations.
blimey, fighting in the ranks? This is exactly the kind of behavior I hate the Prem for. League 1 and the Champ are full of clubs with real supporters who follow their club through thick and thin (often there is a lot of thin!) and do so with a smile on their faces and have fun at the same time. Last time we were promoted (2005) I remember commenting on the old 606 that football didn't seem so much fun anymore. Too many fans taking themselves too seriously and getting the right arse on as soon as their team shows any sign of mortality. I remember a friend of mine from the North East describing Norwich as a fun club. He meant it as an insult but I did not take it that way. Football is about having fun or what's the point. While I would obviously rather that Norwich were successful and finnishing as high in the prem as possible, I would much rather see us at a lower level and have the fans together and enjoying the Norwich City experience! Lets not end up like so many other premier league fans with our heads so far up our own arses that we cannot appreciate the good times. Just remember, EVERY other club in this league has more financial clout than us and probably sees the 2 games against Norwich as points to be gained. With this in mind, getting to 33pts with 9 games left is a great achievement. The style is not there at the moment but we are doing ok.
Please keep up the excellent work on this thread boys & girls I'm really enjoying sitting here and watching you lot tear yourselves apart over nothing! ps I have sympathy for the likes of Northampton, ILD, KIO and Munky on this thread. They are great adversaries and must be encouraged to continue!
I actually agree with you mate. This league has an awful effect on some people. I'm not saying I'm innocent, but the coverage and our recent successful history has lead the rise of a militant element in our ranks. I'm not talking about those on here being critical about Hughton. I'm talking about those above and beyond them. The real assholes. The ones that drove Steve Morison out of the club, the ones that have never embraced Hughton because he isnt Paul lambert, the ones calling for his head at this crucial stage of the season and committing effective suicide, mainly because "if its good enough for Chelsea it's good enough for us " mentality. We aren't Chelsea, and I thank my lucky stars every day that we aren't. The worrying gets me. Worrying? Worry on test results, worry when you go to the dentists, don't worry about going to the football. I cannot wait for Sunderland. Every game is a chance to improve. I believe we can. We will!
You boys barring a miracle will stay in the Premier League this season which will be a monumental achievement. Yes I gather the football isn't very entertaining but what would you rather have? Survival in the richest league in the world by being defensive or possible relegation by being too gung-ho? Not often when I will admit that I envy you and as things stand I would much rather be in Norwich's position compared to my beloved Ipswich! We could really be in the **** with the worst of all worlds! We aren't scoring many goals and we are in a real dog fight to survive in the Championship this season. I hope this puts all your petty squabbles into some sharper perspective!
This Steve Morison thing does my head in, I was one of those who criticised him and for some reason he's untouchable. The amount of people who got arsey and defensive if I criticised Steve Morison was ridiculous, just for having an opinion. I agree Hughton shouldn't go, but if people don't have faith in him does that really make them an asshole? Just an opinion like all of us, I would be slightly pissed off if they started singing "Hughton Out" at the matches, but I think majority of people on here have more sense that that. I've once had a go for KIO for posting an anti Hughton post after a game, and realised I was wrong dismissing his opinion the way I did. That's what this whole thread is about, because you don't agree with them you call them an asshole? I am not offended at all, I love the debate when it gets a little heated, but name calling no, I think it's posts like that which instigate the name calling.
Steve Morison was not above criticism but his life was made very hard by an element that made up untruths about him and effectively completely demoralised him. Very dark, not nice at all. When I try and explain this I had to go back to the 2010-11 season. We were second in the league and everything was great. There was pressure, sure, premier league was at steak but There was a a great feeling in the camp as you all know. I think it was Preston, but I could be wrong. There were extenuating circumstances, they were in the relegation zone and the game had been rescheduled for some reason. Not sure why. We drew the game 1-1. It was a tit for tat game. They defended well and we couldn't break them down. Standard. But what happened next will always stay with me. People began to boo. We were second, we were doing fine, there was a great feeling around the club and because we had the slightest of off days and there was that tiny bit of pressure some felt the need to boo. How can these people be described as anything other than assholes? There is an element of our crowd that is waiting for failure, not looking for success. I reiterate, be absolutely clear on this, I don't believe anyone on here is in the above described camp. Some are critical of Hughton, I don't think he's done everything right, but none of you are in canary call mode or booing a team that is second mode. Not even close.
Read closely. I have not lashed out. You won't be able to get me mad with the "forum clique" "daves mates" jibes. The most you'll get is a pink handbag.
"Dave likes you more than me, it's so unfair." Think I'll come back in 10 years time when you've all grown up.
I'm sorry to say this Irdan, but your guttersniping is doing more damage than anyone posting a reasonable response! I can't work out from your previous posting, just exactly who you support, bit it most definitely is not Norwich! Think very carefully before you respond! You have been sussed!
It was Preston - I was there and it was the day Hulahoops scooped a twattish penalty into the keeper while trying to be flash. The abuse Wes got then from the assembled throng was disgraceful and there was booing at the end of the game as we had failed to annihilate a team from the bottom three - same happened in the 1-1 draw against Donny that season then - the bo-boys were out in their droves that night becuase we'd failed to put the Leagues bottom side to the sword and, like Satureday, they should have beaten us. What we are seeing is nothing new in content, it's just the style that's different - a style that many, maybe even most of us don't like. A win will change the tone completely - look at Chelsea on Sunday. Rafa makes two subsitutions that don't go well with the Chelsea faithful prompting booing, and chants of "You don't know what you're doing" and "We want our Chelsea back". Along comes one of said subs, Hazard, who scores a sumptious goal to put Chelsea back into the game, Chelsea then equalise and the crowd are cheering again. From villain to hero in 20 minutes ! Get another win in our next 3 games and we'll all start to feel less uncomfortable.
Ok being accused of not supporting Norwich is going too far IMO so I'll also be leaving this forum with immediate effect. Best of luck guys and I hope we can continue growing
Lost another respected member then, this thread backfired dramatically. Good luck Irdan, been interesting reading your posts
