I doubt that, not enough to temp FSG, but tbf I can only speculate. The cost of losing Suarez would far exceed 50m imo, it ain't enough. Torres went for 50m so in that context, 150m
Just a thought - but if we were to sell Suarez, who would we get to replace him? Assuming that we have all of his transfer fee to play with, and he's such a big part of our play, there isn't anyone out there for less than 50m that could even remotely does what he does.
Exactly my point. Sure we'd probably get a healthy chunk of that 50m figure next year on shirt sales and increased fan base alone ? All kids who want to be strikers want to be like him Beats one man, beats another GOALLLLLLL
Okay I have to clarify something on shirt sales: We have a contract with distributors and retailers that sell our shirts. We get a set amount annually for shirt sales, when we buy a new player whether Asian or just a big European player we don't get ANY extra money from the sale. It could influence a bigger shirt package for the following contract, but thats the only way we'd benefit from shirt sales. Increase in fan base? Debateable considering Suarez is such a controversial figure. However, he brings in more to this side than any other player could (except the obvious Messi, Ronaldo etc..)
Still an increase in revenue if he stays. And yeah in the UK.. but also teenager don't do controversy out their back yard Ze and hardly read papers or go on the beeb. So I don't agree mate
I see what you mean but also i'll point out that they don't pay attention. Luis Suarez is and I guarantee you, increasing our fan base globally, not every media slates him. he's probably hailed in most countries. not sure about you but I remember being a kid and I never ever gave a bit of notice to commentators as a young supporter good or bad. back then I used to support England at the WCs and Peter Shilton was my all time favorite player, love of footie surpassed all the bollox like politics and nationalism Never mind a few rag journos
I'm sure we're better known in South America because of Coutinho, Lucas and Suarez where even if they do listen to the commentators, they love him over there. However, its not the kids that spend the money, especially in Asia or deprived countries. I'm going to take Real Madrid as an example. Considering they have a fan base of nearly 500m people in the world, who might spend £10 (hypothetical) a year on their support for the club. That's a revenue of £5bn a year, however each year Real Madrid only record 500m in revenue, because its the retailers that profit from their fan base not the club. The same is true for us, we might have a large fan base in Asia but unless they're willing to donate £10 each to the club individually then the actual benefit from it is very small. Suarez probably brings us a maximum of £5m extra income a year through association. However, as you say being a young kid, controversy has little effect which could increase domestic popularity. It still doesn't matter unless we get a bigger stadium though, and not increase the price of a season ticket by 9% each ****ing year.
funny they cut the wage bill as couldn't be justified without CL football, now we have a ticket increase but no CL to justify that!
Why are you concentrating upon shirt sales? There's far more to Suarez's commercial value to Liverpool than that. On a purely money basis then I would guestimate that Suarez was presently worth in excess of £50 million to LFC.
no way, I think it would take at least 50+ for FSG to sell up, unless Suarez was the one forcing a move. £60m and I would reluctantly accept an FSG decision to let Suarez go, that's a lot of money
£60m and you could rebuild half a team with clever buying though. It's funny because, if we had a summer like this January I'd trust Rodgers with 60m, but last summer... I wouldn't.
you're looking to just disagree, teenagers are a year or two away from spending real money, have yer fun, I wont bother, go antaganoise someone else,. -minus silly ending
I was just explaining to BBF why shirt sales are negligible, in terms of financial value I would say he is worth around that to us. However, as I said before, if there isn't anyone else in the market who can do what he does then surely he's worth even more?
has he scored against us this season? has he even played good against us this season? one answer NO, he went missing in games against us this season, Especially in our second game this season when He had to play against Vidic. How did he do against Captain Vidic? he struggled against him and couldn't go past him. like i said before, If Suarez needs to get better and start making a name for himself around the world then he should leave Liverpool and join a much better and a top side because Liverpool are not and never will be a top side ever again. I believe the he will will be gone in 2 or 1 years i think anyway when a big team comes with huge money.
