May have seen the first two before, but they are now in higher quality. Meanwhile the third is new, and shows a wider development. Released by AFL Architects. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image please log in to view this image DTLW
I'm not ITK with Southampton town planners but I think the architects might be getting a bit carried away with that third one to be honest.
Yeah, what are all those buildings supposed to do? Anyway, I really hope this happens. It's been fun supporting the perennial underdog, but it'd be nice to be the powerhouse for once.
I know there was consideration in a regeneration plan drawn up in Southampton City Council documents proposed by the club to turn the land opposite the Itchen Stand into a 'Saints Square'. A load of outlets, shops, food and drink place. Benches and the like.
If this is to happen anytime in the relatively near future then we could really do with staying up this year.
Yeah that sounds feasible, turning a swath of land south of the stadium in Saintsville complete with mini-Shard does not.
Indeed, sometime ago I was shown outline plans of the very thing via Southampton City Council's website. Saying that, I can't find it now, so hopefully you'll take my word for it.
Hopefully there would be a half decent hotel on site as Southampton isn't blessed with many for us long distance fans who occasional stop over for the game. The Southampton Shard Hotel overlooking the new SMS sounds great
What is the thinking behind the release of the pictures? Are they angling for the job? Is Nicola trying to keep us buzzing? We must remember that lots of clubs have these fancy plans (including PFC), though I suppose with the Don there is a reasonable chance it may happen. It does make sense to expand into other fields (hotel, shops etc) bearing in mind that Nicola stated (with the latest figures) that he doesn't like being dependent on broadcasting money. He wants the club to generate the income. As said, the main thing is staying up....3 points on Saturday would be nice
Yep and they have kindly left the gas works out of the picture. Also where is the Ted Bates statue!? I know cortese want's a break with the past....not sure he would get away with that?
Very hard to move gas holders, so they are permanent. Whatever they call that building on the left, I vote we always call it 'The Pointy Thing'...no poncy names like The Shard for us
