I think OLM missed a bit. If Cardiff lose tomorrow, we can go joint top on Saturday if Cardiff slip up to Sheff Wed. It does sound like asking a bit too much, but **** knows what will happen in this league...
I thought Cardiff were uncatchable but I'm not so sure now. I think a draw between the top six clubs is the best result for City (unless we are playing)!
Balls to Cardiff and Leicester, let's concentrate on our own team. If we win enough games then (and only then) can we go on about challenging for the title. I say let's get second in the bag at least. Tricky match v Forest, who'll be up for it. Won't be easy.
I don't think there's anything wrong with knowing what we want from other matches. It's easier with City - we want them to win.
Huge relief to get the 3 points. I couldn't really follow the whole game at work I do however feel that we were the better team, mainly in the second half and Burnley never really felt that dangerous. My work colleague said that Hull looked like the better team and placed a cheeky 50 quid bet on City to score the next goal. Money in the bank. If someone was wondering... As someone said previously. Not a very good game, nor performance, but brilliant result. The Burnley ghost is dead!
I thought it was a very poor performance from both sides, as it always is in this fixture, but we were very solid. Quinn and Boyd were impressive and I could see Gedo's frustration as he was limited to very little in regards to supply. Hobbs, Chester and McShane were brilliant. Meyler seemed to drift in and out of the game IMO, and Brady was enthusiastic but was off with his crosses today. That being said, Burnley did set up defensively against us and Elmo and Brady struggled for space and therefore weren't as effective as they could have been but they worked their socks off nonetheless. I give a massive shout out to Steve Bruce for his tactical set up today too. I don't know if anybody else picked up on this, but rather than going fast out of the blocks like we've been doing, he remained more defensive and absorbed the pressure, waiting for Burnley to switch their emphasis to attack. Once Burnley added more attacking players to the picture, Bruce did the same and that suits our style of play brilliantly. We then had more space and eventually made a chance. Very well done Stevey Bruce.
Now is not the time for entertainment JUST WINNING GAMES. I could not see Burnley scoring at all and it did have a 0-0 feel by the hour mark. Good but obvious subs by Steve Bruce and they worked very quickly. The only thing that matters now is that we won - Job Done and now we move onto the Forest game saturday. As for the Cardiff v. Lesta game tuesday ? well i will hope now that its a draw and both lose 2 pts. Keeps Cardiff within touch and Lesta at arms length. I would not be at all surprsied if Barnsley at least drew with Brighton on tuesday night either.
Agreed completely. It was a proper solid 'away' performance. Teams like Burnley are a bugger to play against because they close down so much and don't let you play. At their ground we're never going to dictate how the game is played. We rose to the challenge of a midfield scrap and limited them to hardly anything in our box, then took our chance when it came. It was no coincidence that the goal was scored seconds after the more attacking subs came on. I'm amazed there were only 350 of us. It seemed like one of the best atmospheres we've had in quite a while. The chant selection was mixed. Some were a laugh such as "If you're watching Ged McManus you're a ****." and the McShane song after every time he touched the ball but that bloody party song really is crap. The players all came over to celebrate with us at the end and we just sang about cocaine instead of anything relevant. "We are going up" has been surprisingly absent lately.
