Evening all, I produced something similar for the PL teams, which went down reasonably well, and PoshMinx asked if I'd do the same for the championship. Not wanting to disappoint a lady for once in my life, here we go. The calculation is a rolling 5-game average for points per game, with the x axis being games ago: please log in to view this image The colour choices perhaps aren't the best, but the most dramatic feature is that Barnsley's good run of form seems to have come to a dramatic end. Wolves on the other hand seems to have recovered a little from their big slump, but have been consistently the worst team since January 1st. Huddersfield spent a long time on the 1 point per game line, which according to an adage I've heard is relegation form, although results have picked up over the last few games. Wednesday and Bristol seem to have been on the slide for a month or so, but appear to have picked it up a little in the last few games. Moving on to Peterborough, recent weeks don't really look too good. However, until last weekend, there's always been 3 teams in worse form than yourselves, which is promising. An overall conclusion is that the form of all the teams down the bottom has dropped since christmas, although I suppose that's to be expected when you consider where you all find yourselves in the league. All teams are currently on pretty similar form, with Wolves by far the worst, which given their league position must give you hope. Obviously, this doesn't take into account the difficulty of fixtures, but hopefully the rolling average should smooth this out. I didn't really look any further up the table as the graph just ends up getting increasingly messy, but if anyone wants to extend it I can send you the raw data. Good luck for the rest of the season, DHC
Thanks DHC .... that was quick It makes interesting reading .... things always makes more sense to me in a visual format
I like (.) (.)'s In all honesty, it's going to go down to the last one or two games of the season for a lot of teams and I bet there are several fans from many clubs who are fearing the worst.
Might be interesting to add Millwall's form into the mix Who do people think will go down? ... have to say I haven't looked at who still has to play who.
No disrespect to Peterborough but I think they're down. To hot and cold, They'll beat someone 5-2 one week then lose 4 or 5 on the trot. I honestly believe it will go down to the last game of the season. To survive, Maybe 53 points could very well be more.
Interesting, shame the choice of colours renders the graph virtually meaningless for those of us that are chromatically challenged......
Updated the graph to fix the colours and include Millwall. I can see why you'd want Millwall included, their form is dreadful! Whilst they've got games in hand, there's little to suggest they'll do anything with it. The very real possibility of an FA cup final appearance is also going to serve as a big distraction for them. Personally I think Wolves will go down, and Barnsley need to stop the rot if they're to survive. Then between Millwall, yourselves and Bristol for the last spot.
DHC .... thank you so much Will give you some rep for this thread when I'm out of jail Tomorrow night is really important for us now
I think the current bottom 3 will go down, regrettably Posh are far too inconsistent. If one of these teams does avoid the drop my money would be on Huddersfield to fall through the trapdoor. (But then I am biased, the only Terriers I like are Jack Russells). (Thanks DHC much easier to follow)
I see Hull won tonight with Boyd playing the full 90 minutes. Boydy and the Tigers can massively influence Posh's fate as they play Huddersfield, Ipswich, Wolves, Bristol City and Barnsley in the next few weeks - winning those games will virtually guarantee their promotion and take 3 points from 5 of our rivals for relegation.
I think BC may manage to climb out & Wolves get pulled down ..... but as you say best would be Udders (totally unbiased like you )
Thanks for those kind words Posh Minx we rather hope we can scramble our way clear now we have a manager who knows what he is doing if only we had had him since the start of the season we wouldn't have been down in the mire.
Derby's form is poor as well. Its whether teams have done enough earlier in the season to stay away from trouble.
I said a week ago that Blackpool were in deep trouble but a win has put them up to 13th I think Wolves have got an almighty challenge on their hands as have Posh, Wolves as they can't buy a win and Posh because they take the form of about 30 different teams over the course of 90 minutes. but with the bottom 3 all on 39 points it must be bloody exciting and interesting for any unbiased spectator........ Personally I'm ****ting myself that we won't be able to get more than a point out of the majority of games I suppose this beats mid table mediocrity... ?? What I'd give to be in 13th place right now..
Hi King Every time I think that we have no chance we put in some amazing performance & a little hope returns but honestly looking at our fixture list I really can't see us getting enough points to survive. Haven't looked at your remaining games ..... Who have you still got to play?
