Neil Lennon is apparently after Fraser Forster to sign him permanant, so got chatting with a mate at work who is a Celtic supporter.

He reckons the rumours going around Celtic is they are to sign Forster for about £2 Million and we'll also get Gary Hooper as part of the deal.

Though he went from Scunthorpe to Celtic and I know everyone will say the standard isn't as high, I rate Hooper who could be a good addition to the team. He's done well at Scunthorpe and at Celtic.

Be gutted to see Forster leave, I like the thought of having local lads in the team and though he is still learning the game can become a top keeper.

He's a natural goalscore but if he has the ability to do it at the highest level remains to be seen.

I'd have Hooper here as part of the squad. Worth a punt surely? We'd have our two main awesome strikers competing for the lone starting position, then two back-up strikers to them in Best and Hooper, and then perhaps another two back-ups in Lovenkrands and Ameobi. Not sure if 6 is too much though. Maybe sell McLoven and bring it down to 5.

I think Hooper wouldn't be a bad signing but needs to prove himself in the Prem. Look at Kris Boyd, banged them in at Rangers but couldn't get a look in at the Smogs and went on loan to the Florists and still hasn't done great for them. But I would like to see Hooper playing for us, looks good and is English but should be reasonably priced. Think we should keep Forster though, Harper's not going to be around for ever.

Hooper is twice the player of lovenkrands so thats an improvement! i've seen a canny few celtic games and if i'm honest forster only looks decent at best, makes some good saves, but bottles it a bit now and then and drops a clanger!!

I also cant see us getting £2m and hooper as part of that deal tho?

I think we need to sign a new keeper! HArper aint up to it and krul is still learning

But would Hooper come when Celtic are in Europe next season, and would he give up a first team place at Celtic to (possibly) sit on the bench quite a lot. The only real advantage is that we're in a bigger league..

And that he's English...saying that Foster seems hell bent on leaving his hometown to go to Celtic

I don't like Foster to be honest. Probably a good goalie, but he seems to be arrogant and has an ego now he's been first-team choice for Celtic. I really get the impression that he just doesn't want to be at Newcastle and definitely wouldn't spend his time on the bench.

If you loan someone out to the wrong club, this is what happens to them unfortunately.

My mate reckons Boyd is only good around the 18 yard box with ball to feet, he has no real pace which is why he struggles in the English game with the defences playing higher up the pitch.
Hooper is only 23 years old, English and has a good physical presents. Started off at the Spurs youth academy, so reckon he is worth a punt.
Nobody is a proven premiership quality until they actually play in the league

I dont think buying players from scotland is a good idea, they really stand out when playing there, but some of the teams they are playing against are problably league 2 standard! Just look at Kris Boyd he is still the SPL ALL time leading goal scorer but couldnt cut it in the championship.

we need to sign a new keeper? harpers not up to it?
sorry i must have missed something if there is one position where we excel and are prehaps the envy of many clubs it's in the goalkeeping department

Harper 36 - should have had an England recently as imo better than the ****e that has won a cap recently
    Forster 23
Krul 23 - Dutch u21 international (captain for 1 match) called up to the senior squad post-season trip to South America
    Soderberg 21
    Alnwick 18 - England under-18 international

so even if Forster wanted to leave and we sold him harpers still got one season two tops by the time he finishes Soderberg could be coming through so i think it's one department that we don't need to strengthen for the time being

oh yeah and a big pat on the back for the wealth of talent we have in that department goes to Andy Woodman/Chris Terpcou

To be fair though Celtic are normally out of Europe by the end of August.

I tihnk this would be a brilliant deal for us, a proven goalscorer and a few quid in exchange for a dodgy keeper who would be 3rd choice if we kept him. Happy days! Can't see it happening tho as Lennon just paid £2m for Hooper last summer and he's been on fire this season.

2million??? I would snap there hand off. Being Scottish and living is Scotland I get to see a lot of Celtic, even been to a few games this season as my mates are season ticket holders. I can honestly say Forster is ****e. The majority of the Celtic fans believe this. I think we should get rid. We still have Harper, Krul and Soderberg who could go on to great things in my opinion. As for Hooper, great goalscorer, no way celtic would let him leave though, stokes in the player they are trying to punt of the two of them as they are too similar.

Harper cant get down to the ball! yes he has been a loyal servant to the club, but you cant keep him for that reason alone! look back at some of the goals we have conceded this season and look at the number that have gone under him!

still disagree but hey ho....imo we need to strengthen other more important positions and as for harper just being at the club because of loyalty nonsense he's at the club as he's a good, solid keeper never been one of the keep him as he's been loyal brigade keep him for the reason's i stated,i actually think krul should be first choice ahead of harper as harpers proved he's good cover. and as for forster if he wants to go then get rid simple as that really but i don't see the need to waste money in a department we have a wealth of talent anyway (the point i was making not a pro rant for harper)

I wouldn't make a GK a priority either! if we didn't sign one I would be happy to play Krul Number 1 and let him grow into the position, Thats how citeh have done it with hart.
