What about Hey Big Spender. Looked somewhere back to form in his last run. That Nicholls horse was very unexposed and a bit of a blot. Don't know if the depth was there in the race (Tartak a non-stayer and the rest not all that good?) but will definitely stay up the hill, on an attractive mark, stable jocks pick and handles the ground. 33/1 looks ok to me (note 16s with 365 <yikes>)

You know the answer to that. Key thing is that even a stopped clock gets it right a couple of times a day. This might be his stopped clock ride?

Big thanks to Wayward for entering a Not 606 league into the Telegraph fantasy racing Comp. It's easy to log in and enter and an additional bit of fun attached to a superb few days of sport. Currently 33 of us have entered would be good to see it get up to 40, especially if i get to the top of the tree:emoticon-0105-wink:

Cloudy Too would have been my NAP of the festival off a mark of 137 but Sue Smith decided to run him again where he won well and secured a 9lb rise. I think he'll improve significantly for the step up in trip and very happy to see Wayne Hutchinson on board as he seemed to get on really well with him LTO. 20/1 looks a super price in my books.

Glad to hear it Stick, those races are tough enough without not getting money back for a non runner.

Scott yard, one I wouldn't be touching at the festival, along with, dare I say it, Twiston-Davies.

In a race with no pace, that to me is a major negative. Surely he will be too fresh and want to go on, setting the race up for others/throwing away his chance?

Strange little race, I still quite fancy Binocular to run very well.

Thing is though Nass, I would imagine they need him to go off at a good clip. If he is to avoid a turn of foot from Hurricane et al, he looks the only one who can go end to end over the 2m and try to blunt the speedsters.

I can see why they are doing it. Apparantly its really helped him concentrate on the gallops. Is it tactical genius in an attempt to blunt the Fly, or is it a first glimpse of desperation?

I would say desperation, they know that the race isn't panning out the same as last season and trying to get him to go from the fore, and earlier. I don't see how he can win it from the front, its not like he hasn't been shown up by Zarkandar in a muddling race, so I know what speedier horses would do to him.

Its similar to the reason why I am pondering whether to back Puffin Billy or River Maigue in the Supreme, the latter will love a fast run race, but will he get it.

Necessity is the mother of all invention, I'd say it's desperation but potentially genius. They won't win at a crawl, they simply won't. So why not get him galloping out the front and say to the others pass me. He's a strong stayer and I'd expect Fehily to wind it up as the race goes on. Not getting a lovely toe will not help but more so I don't think he'll be afforded first run on the field this time round.

Did you watch the same race as me ? ROR was travelling far better than Zarkandar and obviously got tired late in the race simple as that. Are you forgetting Zarkandar was race fit and was receiving 4lbs from ROR and Grandouet as well. On heavy ground first time out that was a massive effort from ROR

absolutely horrendous race reading from Nassau Board
