The penny is slowly dropping for some....Harry never rated At but to axe him when he was appointed would have been suicide. he knew that if he gave Adel enough games, then AT would axe himself...(give him enough rope syndrome)....Adel tried hard for the first part of our worst season ever but facts are: 2 game on the trot 2 wins on the trot No Adel on the trot....! love to see the statos and worshippers "spin" this one out ! Gonna be hillarious....& I feel soory for the way AT has been used...!
Welcome to the dark side "bushy. but you are under a strict code of conduct over here... You MUST.have your own opinions on players you MUST back them to the hilt you must NOT back down to the universal opinion & must maintain opinion for-ever... finally you must elect swords & myself as your true born gods and send us all your mney for the (anti adel) "temple" we are building... We are the outcasts, but rest assured...many more wil join us before the season is out. All are welcome and we hold no grudges...well except against...no cant "...do it...all taken to seriously. I happily await e-mail addresses to post membership forms too...from We Are Nice Kids Excepting Rrrrr's & Swords......(W.A.N.K.E.R.S...for short) PS...where has Norf gone then?..seriously?
I don´t think Paula is quite out of it yet, Harry may well use him against the likes of Arsenal, Everton, Newcastle and finally Liverpool - but for the nitty-gritty matches that remain Abdul is a luxury.
Give it a rest Queens Adel will never ''mature'', it's just not in his nature. After a couple of good games he always comes out with the usual ''love the club, love the fans'' spiel, but it's falling on deaf ears now for me. Love the guy for his tricks and flicks and general entertainment on the pitch, but he's the most frustrating player I've ever seen play for us. So much potential but just refuses to realise it and change his attitude/take advice from more senior people in the game. I'm not sure whether it's arrogance, stupidity or a mixture of the two. Pains me to say it as he's my 'favourite' player.
Give what a rest Bob? plenty of us been saying for a long time that we are better off without Adel. Only the niave kept the worshipping going... Great player against lesser opposition, but so am i hen i play my kids schoolmates.! nor so good against decent oppo.. truth hurt does it?..dont want hinm to mature and bored with is spiel 2 seasons ago...reallly fighting myself not to do a " I told you so " thread right now !!
By give it a rest, I meant the constant attempts at creating factions of people and trying to get people 'onside' with horribly poor attempts at humourous sarcasm. My post wasn't to argue, or to get into a debate over him, or to prove any kind of point or play a game of 'oneupmanship'. I haven't changed my opinion on him as that's always pretty much how I've seen him. Great player with bags of potential but only shows it in flashes. Frustratingly inconsistent, but I still love watching him play.
I think it's fair to say the writing is on the wall for Adel in large capital letters. It's noticeable that the team on Saturday was definitely Harry's and it has started playing his type of football...
I read in The Sun today (I know, take with a pinch of salt!) that it was three players that leaked that story to the Mirror via their agent(s) and the journalist (Mark Irwin) said "it doesn't take a genius to figure out that Taarabt was one of them". On the one hand, The Sun's sports journalists should be kept at arms length after the ridiculous story by Shaun Custis two years ago saying that we were going to be deducted 15 points. On the other hand, Taarabt has previous with this kind of behaviour and has never gotten on with 'Arry. I don't know what to believe to be honest but its clear Redknapp thinks he was feigning injury before the S'land game.
I read Harry's comments in The Times, it seems clear he's now found the players that will fit his system and Adel will, at best, be peripheral...
Managing Adel is like conducting a love affair. Warnock said he loved him, chased him over continents, invited him home and Adel was wooed Harry's approach is, let me see what you'll do for me, and then I'll tell you if I f*cking love you... You can see it may not work between them
Is it not a lot more serious than that Sooper? Potentially leaking dodgy stories to the press? Faking injuries? That's even worse than what Bosingwa did and look at the stick he got! We don't know the truth right now but it will come out in time.
It might just be that this has given Harry the opportunity to find the right blend in the team and the excuse to bomb Adel out. As I said, at best, he will just be a peripheral figure in the squad if he's used at all. This is a side of Harry the fans don't see, you don't get to be as successful as Harry unless you're ruthless when it matters...
Agree with what you've been saying on this Soops. 'Arry's job is to get us out of a very deep hole and he's too long in the tooth to let anything distract him. If Taarabt's performances are part of the solution, great. If not - as appears to be the case here, **** him. Whilst he played a significant role in our first two wins, he was a passenger at best against Swans and ManU. No idea what really went on in Dubai but one of the likely scenarios is that him and Traore weren't best pleased. If it was them and/or their agents that entertained the Mirror man with their criticisms, it would certainly explain a few things about availability and team selection these last couple of weeks. Question for those of us who enjoy a showman (which includes me) is what would we rather have at this stage of the season: a nearly man or an 'Arry team that's up for grabbing the points? Call me fickle but I know what lifts my weekend these days!
Fair enough Brix, good points there. Nevertheless I still think there is an obvious inconsistency to the Board's reaction to Bosingwa's (alleged at the time) disgraceful behaviour and Taarabt's alleged disgraceful behaviour recently. The discrepant reactions to both scenarios could possibly be explained by (A) Bosingwa's connections to local rivals Chelsea and (B) Taarabt's lofty status among a lot of people on this Board. If this is indeed the case, I think its time we seriously evaluated our position as fans and/or supporters of the Club. I don't want to start another free-for-all but I've been patiently waiting all day for someone to express outrage about the current stories going about but there has been a deafening silence, save a couple of posts from Queens. I must admit to being very disappointed with the lack of concern our Board has shown toward this issue. Is a player really more important to you than your Club?
OK, I'll bite. I just can't see the point in this revely of Adel's fall from form (I won't say grace at this stage) just for the purpose of one-up-manship (because some people overrate him when he does something special with the ball). These "celebrations" coming from people who begrudginly admitted that there was improvement and good games from him a mere 2 months ago (better work rate etc). We want our best player on his day to fail for the right to say "I told you so?" What is his apparent worthlessness based on? Two wins without him. By this spurious logic, we could ask why we haven't won every game he hasn't played in. Southampton was a scrappy game with our players giving the ball away as much as ever. Sunderland was much improved - Adel involved in neither so the common factor can be excluded when trying to explain the change in performance. The obvious answer is the second game built on the confidence gained from the first. I pose this one to you people - would Adel also fair better in a team that had improved belief? Knowing that the game wasn't going to be won and lost purely on the strength of his ability to pick up the ball on the halfway line and produce something but instead with players (and not just one or two) ahead of him who would attack the goal or make runs. Furthermore, a higher offensive line (with a target man) would allow Taarabt the opportunity to potentially receive the ball higher up the pitch, thus improving his chances of doing something decisive. As for the recent revelations about the hotel - Adel being the source. Is this AT spilling the beans on the debauchery that Redknapp claims so vehemently didn't happen? Is Tarbs the Jeffrey Archer of West London suddenly with his marvelous blend of fiction, fabrication and barefaced lies? What I've noticed about Adel Taarabt's psyche is that, upon being dropped, he sulks for a few weeks (perhaps with some overreaction thrown in) and then sorts himself out and fights his way back into the manager's reckoning. He did this last season and earlier this season too. His attitude has got better but nobody has said that he's put his ego issues firmly behind him so this is all within expectation if you actually try to undrstand the man. Instead of all the cries of good riddance, get rid, he's only ever been good in the NPC, why not hope for a reaction and the goal like he pulled out from the bench against West Brom and the threat he carried that earnt him a place back in the side? He remains our top league scorer and top provider (OK they're still not superb stats but they're the best we have). If we were to list our most valuable assets he'd be up there with Samba and Remy - this isn't down to beating players with no end result rather than a genuine goal threat. Are we much wiser than the entire footballing fraternity? In answer to Brix's question, it's definitely a case of substance over style at this, the business end of the season but there might be a need, with a game firmly in deadlock or, worse still in deificit, that we need him to give us something different. The situation isn't much different to last year where he delivered against Spurs and Arsenal and, if anything, he's a better all round player than back then. Harry will do exactly what's needed and that will include using Taarabt when he feels it's right. He's not going to come this far just to cut off his nose to spite his face at the last minute. He certainly won't bow to reputation though - it'll be on his terms and for the common good.
I said at the time that Bosingwa was showing that he cared (even if nobody quite got the idea that walking out because you're not picked is a million miles from the indifference of picking up pay cheques no matter what happens and not risking substantial fines). Same for Taarabt - silly footballers being petulent. To kick them out would be sacrificing the club for some principle (not sure what) rather than using them for the club's benefit.
Indeed you did mate I remember it well. I still disagree with you over it but to be fair to you, you are consistent on this matter. My problem is with the Bosingwa bashers that are oh so quiet now. It leaves a sour taste to be honest.
