Even after the disappointment of the defeat to Chesterfield I still think we have a chance to win this game Vale are in poor form (4pts from 15) with only one win in five they have fallen to defeats against Oxford and Exeter who were of course both well beaten by The Gas and that said they've only won five out of there thirteen games so far in 2013. The players I'm sure will pick themselves up and put in another hard working performance. My score prediction is........ The Gas 2-1 Port Vale Gas Scorers - Brunt And Brown Vale Scorer - Pope Attendance - 7640
How you bounce back from Saturday willl be interesting, especially the younger players - I think you will be ok (Ward doing a sound job)
Great thread as always. But the pic of the blue flames is embarrassing 1-1 draw - O'Toole. 6245 attendance.
Just focus on the team coming out of the tunnel. Yes they are embarrassing that's why there in black and white
I think that we are looking tired following a lot of games virtually back to back given our squad depth suggest that we require another midfielder to replace Clucas and Clarkson. Also assume that JW will play conservative football hitting them on the break which will make it a tough game however they appear not to travel very well hopefully we can pick up all three points following the result on Sat. COR
Good luck tomorrow, Vale are not in good form and Pope is not getting the goals so I believe you will win 2-1.
add o'toole to that as he goes back to colchester with still 4 games remaining. if no replacement come in then i guess it will be woodards and norburn at CM.
Team News Forward Joe Anyinsah was forced off with a hamstring problem in the first half in the 2-0 loss to the Spireites and will be sidelined on Tuesday night. Second-placed Port Vale, without a win in four, have midfielder Ryan Burge back after two games out with a virus. But skipper Doug Loft must serve the second game of a three-match suspension and left-back Dan Jones remains sidelined with a knee problem. VIEW FROM THE TRAINING GROUND Rovers manager John Ward told BBC Radio Bristol: "Port Vale will set us a challenge but we'll remind the players of how we responded against Barnet and Exeter. "They come here with the second best away record in the division but I talk to my players in a positive way. "If both teams are bouncing back from a defeat, then there's a great game coming up." Port Vale manager Micky Adams: "It has got to the point now where we have to kick back into action and I think we'll get a reaction. "I've no negative thoughts in my mind about trying to nick a point and steady the ship. "We'll be bold and try to win the game, like we always do."
How do we stand about J2O? As we have had serious long term injuries since his emergency loan was arranged, is it possible that a new extension could be arranged for him to the end of the season or are we entitled to request yet another emergency replacement? I don't know the ruling here.
Pitch Update Covers coming off at midday The covers have been in place over night to protect the playing surface at the Memorial Stadium from the cold weather. These will be coming off at midday, and at the present moment we do not anticipate any problems with tonight's game. If this situation changes, we will keep you informed.
Man In The Middle Vs Port Vale The referee for tonights clash is Frederick Graham from Essex. Mr Graham has already took charge of two Rovers games this season and both times Rovers were on the losing end, he was in charge of Rovers 3-1 Capital One Cup defeat to Ipswich Town and Rovers 2-1 F.A Cup defeat to Sheffield United. Mr Graham has been in charge of 27 games so far this season and has shown the yellow card 87 times and has sent off one player. Mr Graham will be assisted by Mark Derrien and Daniel Leach and the Fourth Official will be William Bull.
even though port vale fans are worried about tonights game that they will beat us, i still think a point be a good result.
Vale take on 'The Gas' looking to get back on track Vale take on a resurgent Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Ground this evening looking for a change in fortunes following their recent slump in form. Despite still holding on to second spot, Micky Adams admitted some of his players seem to lack confidence, but he feels sure they will snap out of it sooner rather than later. The Vale boss is expecting a tough encounter against ‘the Gas’ – a side who have certainly turned their own fortunes around after a disastrous start to the season. Rovers fans had to settle for a single win in their side’s opening eight League Two fixtures, but since John Ward took over the manager’s job in December, there has been a remarkable change. His side have only tasted defeat for times in fourteen matches since the turn of the year and have become more organised and hard to beat, They were beaten by Chesterfield at the weekend, but won their two previous games, beating two sides with promotion/play-off aspirations, in Burton Albion and Exeter City. Recent successes have seen Ward’s charges victorious away at Fleetwood, Rotherham and Oxford, impressive results whichever way you look at things. Vale will feel they must get something from the game as they play the first of two away games in the space of five days. Following a poor first half performance at home to Southend United on Saturday, don’t be too surprised to see Micky Adams make changes again. Daniel Jones is ruled out, but hopeful of a return to the side for Saturday’s trip to York, following an injection to his injured knee this morning. Midfielder Ryan Burge has been added to the squad and could well be in the starting eleven. There could be further changes as the manager looks for the right ingredients to kick-start Vale’s season with nine games remaining.
