IMO, things have got a little out of hand over the last few days and understandably so after our performances (or lack of) since the end of November really. I think also that Dave's intervention has come at the right time.
Total nonsense Dave, I'm afraid. Like it or not, put downs, passionate debate and fiery responses are what makes for a good forum. Agreement for the sake of agreement makes for a bland experience. Its a discussion forum not facebook. Some of the vomit inducing back slapping and mind numbingly dull interepretation amongst equally mind numbingly dull posters is not what makes a forum work. Thats my personal opinion and I see no reason why it can't be said.
I'm not asking for agreement from everyone, that would be unreasonable and impossible! I'm asking for a bit of common courtesy, it's what we Brits are famous for!
The OP really brought home to me the fact that I hadn't noticed.Maybe Mrs CT really does have a point when she says that my preoccupation with stats and numbers puts me on the Asparagus spectrum.
Don't worry about carabuh dave. He'll be gone till we lose again. Then go back into exile when we win. It's a case of some people use this site as a vent for anger/frustration. Saturday was a **** game, but I have the ability to put things into context. The night is always darkest just before the dawn...
I have to say that IMO Dave is spot on and some comments are going over the line. Of course it is a debating forum and differing opinions are healthy but personal slanging is something that I have detected more of recently and it does detract from any argument the writer is making. A slight moderating of tone will not go amiss but causes should still be defended.
That post is, unfortunately, exactly what I expected. Most people on this board have come to agree with carras views and he is what I would call a "respected member" of the forum as you like to word it. Unfortunately you siding with your favourite posters, who in the views of some aren't so respected, just goes to show how much of a clique has developed. Can of works opened here..well done.
I find this very harsh I'm afraid Dave, very harsh indeed. I'd rather read Carrabuh's posts more than the vast majority of people on here - and if his views are no longer welcome because they simply go against the grain, and if he is the only one being singled out as being repetative and labouring his point then I find that wrong and a very poor show personally. What actually happens is that people misunderstand what Carrabuh is actually saying, they get all wound up about it, they misquote him and take him out of context - sometimes even telling him he is clueless/knows less about football than certain people's elderly parents/negative/ignorant etc etc - and when he tries to put them straight and explain what he means and gives evidence to back up his opinions he is treated like a leper. I may not agree with everything he says, and over the years he and I have had our fair share of ding-dongs and disagreements, but I have always fully respected the fact he calls it as he sees it with his own eyes rather than just pigging-backing on and regurgitating well trodden opinions of others that they believe to be true just because so-and-so says so. So Beef has never insulted any one on this forum??? And don't get me started on Carla Dave, you know how I feel about "her".
I agree with you that their are one or two sanctimonius back slappers on here carrabuh, but I have to say that when Dave first posted about the PM he received, rightly or wrongly, I immediately thought of Carla. Some of your comments towards her on a previous thread were a bit near the mark IMO. That said, I find myself agreeing with a lot you have posted recently
The only personal insults I've seen slung are from daves mates. Beefy and Supers are often rude and Carla is often patronising.
Beef's got his blinkers on again I see - do you really think people are getting frustrated just because Saturday's was a **** game? What about the dozen games before that??!!
Kio it wasn't Carla, and the rest of you, I respect carrabuh's point of view as much as anyone, I don't agree with it but that's another matter entirely. I'm sorry you can't seem to grasp the point of this post, I'm just asking for some civility, is that too much to ask?
Carrabuh, your use of "vomit inducing back slapping and mind numbingly dull interpretation amongst equally mind numbingly dull posters" seems to sum up exactly what Dave is talking about. I personally agree with many but not all of your arguments. It would seem that the latter puts me into the "mind numbingly dull posters" side of your dichotomy, ie. those who agree with you and those who don't. That suggests intimidation rather than open debate to me.
Lol yeah, your right of course. When we get 70m at the end of this season our club will not hangs in the slightest. McNally is going to build a Scrooge mcduck style swimming pool full of money and go for a dip. I can see its **** right now carabuh, but I can also see it isn't the end of everything. We will be better.
And if my auntie had bollocks she'd be my uncle! I expected a better comeback than that fella, that's very poor (am I allowed to say that or am I being too controversial?) Tell me, when did we last win a game convincingly? By my records the Posh cup game was the only one all season we have won convincingly, I'd love to be corrected on that though - good luck
There is one poster on here who really throws his toys out of the pram when anyone dares to disagree with him. I'm mentioning no names, suffice to say that he has been conspicuous by his absence recently ..............oh and irdan, I tend to agree that Dave has opened a real can of worms here, people are now starting to let off steam. Perhaps this thread should be re-named "The let off steam thread!"
