    Burnley vs Hull City
    11th March 2013
    Turf Moor
    7:45 Kick off

    Burnley Burnley_FC_badge_2010.jpg
Recently labelled as City's 'Bogey team' Burnley have had many happy times vs the Tigers in recent years. The last time Burnley lost to Hull City, was in the Tigers' Promotion to the Premier League in 2007/08. Burnley don't go into this match high in form either, with only 1 win in their last seven which was a 1-0 victory against Charlton but haven't won at Turf Moor since their victory over Crystal Palace back in January. Ex-Tigers midfilder Dean Marney has been ruled out with a calf problem which means he won't be able to receive grief for his antics back at the Circle when he scored the winner. Burnley were looking likely for a play off push, but recent form has seen them slip to 11th on 48 points. The dangerman Charlie Austin was kept quiet at the KC Stadium, and there will need to be a repeat of that at Turf Moor as the striker looks for his 27th goal of the Season.

    Hull City
The Tigers suffered their 3rd straight defeat on the road with a 4-2 loss to fellow promotion rivals Crystal Palace in which Kevin Phillips scored a hat-trick. At home though, City's last win was the rather easy disposal of a weak Birmingham side 5-2 to give Steve Bruce his largest win as Hull City manager. Corry Evans is still ruled out (Quad strain) but James Chester and Tom Cairney have both recovered and are available for selection. A win against Burnley will close the gap between 2nd and 1st to just 3 points and really pile the pressure onto the League leaders. This will be another stern test for the Tigers, but it's now that important time of the Season, and every point is valuable, especially since as in City still have a match at home against Watford to play.

    Interesting Facts
    - Hull City have not lost a League game in which they've opened the scoring (winning 17 and drawing 1).
    - James Chester could reach a Century of League appearances for Hull City if selected, whilst Alex Bruce is on the verge of his 250th League appearance overall.
    - Burnley have won the last 7 against Hull City.

    Top Scorers

Burnley: Charlie Austin 26, Martin Paterson 5, Chris McCann 4, Junior Stanislas 3, Ross Wallace 3
Hull City: George Boyd 8 (6 for Peterborough), Sone Aluko 8, Robert Koren 8, Jay Simpson 7, Gedo 5

Will be happy with a draw, but a win would certainly send out a strong message to our rivals, going for 0-2 City. UTT

Cairney and Chester have just been confirmed as fit for tonight, from last weeks knocks, there's only Evans who's out.

I for one would not be relishing a trip to Turf Moor at this time. A team on the up, with Austin on fire. Thing is he won't be there next season I guess. Could be with one of the new teams to the Premiership! <whistle>

Saw an interview this morning on BBC with Bruce where he said he is going to make adjustments after the defeats away- am confident we will get at least a point from the match if not the win. Even if we lose we are still right in the mix so won't be joining any mass despair on here after the game

Whenever you'd sad, whenever you're blue,
    Whenever you're troubles are heavy,
Beneath the stars, I play my guitar,

Defensive duo Michael Duff (calf) and Ben Mee (knee) are due to resume training at some stage next week but are doubtful for the visit of Steve Bruce's high-flyers.

Winger Ross Wallace (knee) is likely to miss out once more and although Dean Marney trained last week, tightness in the calf looks set to prevent him from facing his former club.

Ross Wallace is a Burnley player I've been impressed with last few years so glad to see him out.

Burnley on the up? 1 win in 8 is hardly on the up. Austin the only player to score in the last month.

So that makes them dead certainties to win tonight.

That Burnley win came @ Charlton with the hit and hope Austin shot. Hardly anything to worry about IF, BIG IF, Hull City turn up and play anything like.

With 2nd spot looming and closing the gap to just 3 points on Cardiff City I fully expect us to do the job tonight. :emoticon-0103-cool:
