QPR manager Harry Redknapp said Adel Taarabt missed the 3-1 win against Sunderland because of an injury. Taarabt was not in Rangers’ matchday squad for the game at Loftus Road. But Redknapp insisted: “He picked up an injury in midweek and wasn’t fit to play. There’s no other reason.” Armand Traore and goalkeeper Julio Cesar also missed the match through injury. All three players are expected to be available for next weekend’s vital clash with Aston Villa.
His injury must have been more serious than Zamora's trifling hip condition or Remy's thigh problem when you consider that both of them played yesterday and Adel didn't even make it to the bench.
Harold did say that there were players not available who has far less serious injuries than Bobby. He obviously thinks even 60% of BZ brings something to the team that he can't get anywhere else in the squad. And that he was confident that he could do without the others - clearly he was right.
I was being a little mischievous, I'm a huge admirer of Bobby and how he has been playing through the pain because he was needed for the job. I just wonder if Adel - who I also love - was really injured or perhaps out of favour?
If he was just out of favour he still would have made the bench. He was either genuinely injured or has fallen out with the gaffer. I think its the former. Hopefully he'll be fit enough for the Villa game in case he's needed.
Given Adel's recent performances, his absence is far more easier to cover than Zamora's or Remy's. Bothroyd did well against Saints, but he doesn't have the physical attributes of Zamora. Nothing suspicious in it for me.
I hope someone buys him if we stay up, championship player at best. For every sublime bit of skill there are twenty attempts that don't come off and one of them puts us under pressure. Ask yourselves why has no one ever come in for him, we are a better team without him.
Ridiculous thing to say. How can someone be voted the best player out of around 600 Championship players, only be considered championship quality 'at best'?
I'm not going to get drawn into yet another Taarabt debate. The only thing I will say is that I don't think Harry likes or rates him much.
'arold has let him go once (when at Spuds) and I think he'll let him go again. He's better than Championship quality, but not our best player this season.
.....that's not what Harry said when he started the job? Agree with poster Loveitupthebush, he is a very good Championship player, but seems to bugger things up for his team (too many times during a game) at this level? Just an opinion, mind.
This is what Harold was quoted as saying in the Times (can't link to the app) "Taarabt wasn't fit suddenly, so I picked people who were fit and wanted to play and off we go. He's got a little bit of a thigh strain or something. If you're building a football team you know the people you want and those you don't want around you because they'll let you down. I know exactly who they are." Draw your own conclusions. One of mine is that Harold is a journalist's dream.
That was 2 years ago, I'm sorry for having an opinion I am obviously wrong as I have forgotten about all the goals and the assists this season from the mercurial, magical, mesmerising, moaning morrocan. I was a huge fan, but have seen the light
Was just gonna post the same thing from the MailOnline. Seems the love affair (That was) is well and truly over between Adel and 'Arry. Can see it going the same way as it did with Cisse tbh, and can't see Tarbs getting back in the side barring injuries.
Well that puts an entirely different spin on things. From that it sounds like he's done a Bosingwa. He has got previous in this area. COL is right, Harry never has nor never will like him. Obviously there are many fans who would agree with the Manager here but many more who wouldn't. Whatever the case may be, I do hope he gets back in the reckoning because he could be very important in the run-in.
Well that quote from Harry says it all. Disappointing to say the least that Adel is behaving like that after seemingly starting to mature but there you go.
