Over the past few weeks we have had all and sundry moaning on here, which has led to finger-pointing and an awful lot of bickering!

Well, enough is enough, we ALL have opinions and often they differ from yours, that doesn,t make opposing posters ignorant, nor does it mean they are not true supporters! Once you have posted your opinion, and replied to any queries about it from posters with a different opinion, that is it! Your opinion is there for all to see, you don't have to keep posting it over and over, we've all seen it, move on!

Last night I received a PM from a well-respected poster that I've never seen a bad word from them or about them, they will not be posting again while all the bickering and petty scrapping is carrying on in practically every thread.

My fair warning is to anyone who wants to carry on posting, any more of this playground bullying and repetitive nonsense will have their post deleted, if it still continues after having a post deleted, they will receive a temporary ban! This applies to visitors as well as our own, let's all grow up and accept that some people think differently to others!

    Thank you for your co-operation!

It hasn't been that bad, everyone is a tad annoyed by how the last couple of games have gone and obviously tempers are running high, a good result or performance and I'm sure the atmosphere on here will change.

I thought that this was a public discussion forum?

If we overstep the rules or start being abusive to each other I can understand it, but to simply state that if you do not like the nature of our posts they will be deleted and we may face a ban is a bit strong Dave.

Not quite sure that was what Dave is on about. Posting opinion is fine, but repetitive posting in a slanging match bully style will not be tolerated.

Think it is all fair really.

Just to clarify to those of you that didn't read the post properly:-

Yes this is a football discussion forum.

Yes we can all state our opinion.

Yes we can ask others to clarify their opinion

Yes we can answer questions posed to us regarding our opinion.

No we can't call people names because they don't agree with us.

No we can't hi-jack every thread to repeat an opinion expressed on a different post.

We are all Norwich fans, and the petty squabbling is putting people off joining our forum, and causing highly respected members to stay away!

    That is all!

Very blown out of proportion OP.

Frustrated fans venting their frustrations are what forums are all about. Better than everyone agreeing with eachother.

Well said and responsibly carried out Dave. There will always be differences of opinion and that is natural, but the personal abuse has escalated of late and often does take the form of bullying. Speaking personally, I am also very fed up with it and the effect it has on genuine discussion. So thanks for your intervention, Dave.

It seems Hughton's tactics are polarizing people's viewpoints on here - more so with every week that goes by.
On the one hand, you have those who will tolerate it without complaining if it means we live to fight another day/season, in the top flight.
Alternatively, there are those who possibly grew up on a diet of Stringer, Brown, Walker etc, who believe that we are watching a travesty unfold, where the NCFC ethos for which we were renowned, is being abandoned, week after week.
This, unsurprisingly, is causing considerable friction.

It's largely in your hands, Hughton, a couple of decent performances - never mind results, and all (well, most) would be sweetness and light again <ok>
Can see Dave's point that it's alienating new members/neutrals from getting involved.
That can't be good for anybody.

To be honest with this new heavy handed approach potentially stifling debate you might be losing even more members, highly respected or otherwise.
I might just be one of them <ok>

It isn't stifling debate, Tony, as Dave has clearly pointed out. It's the personal abuse that is the problem. Opinions can still be expressed, explained and defended in the way they always have been, but it's time to stop the personal abuse which has nothing to do with genuine debate.

Kemp bor, I think Dave is stating by all mean we should express opinions but when replying to criticisms of those opinions, use a bit of courtesy. I personally noted one reply that was unpleasant and totally failed to answer the other person's point of view.

To that person considering withdrawing from this website, please understand that this is a football forum and feelings can on occasion run high. Leaving is only going to lower the standard. Hopefully Dave's common sense approach will prevail.

It seems to me that some people on here take things too much to heart. Crikey, I've blown my top on here several times in the heat of the moment only to be put down by other posters. Whatever happened to free speech anyway ? If you don't like someone's comments just block them if you feel the need. Personally, I don't block anyone and just LOL at those who irritate me. To the poster who sent Dave the PM, don't take things so seriously football is a passionate game and we all wan't the best for NCFC regardless of whether someone's opinion differs from ours, we're all friends on here really aren't we ? <smooch>

    Bang on my friend <ok>

My post that somehow disappeared basically suggested that if debate is censored/stifled on here because some people somehow get themselves upset at the prospect of some people disagreeing on a debating forum where people of differing opinion debate and (surprise surprise) disagree on a regular basis then the forum is likely to lose some more members, well respected or otherwise, as a consequence. And I might be one of them.

I'm all for keeping decorum on here and I don't want to see any nastiness or name calling between us lot as there is generally such a good atmosphere on here and we are all virtual friends with the same goal in mind, that being the success of our beloved football club. I see plenty of excellent debates on here and a fair few petty squabbles over differences of opinion, but I've never seen anything you could call spiteful or nasty, I've never seen any threats or name calling or anything like that in fact I personally have never seen anything that I'd call out of order for a debating forum at all.

If we're going to be told off like naughty schoolchildren just for reiteratig a point that the person you're debating with doesn't understand or chooses to misinterpret for any reason, and castigated for getting frustrated at times at some people's inability to grasp the most basic of concepts then that's not for me and perhaps I'll leave this forum to all those rose-tinted fans who don't like hearing other people's opinions and would rather just slap each other's backs whilst changing their (often) ill-informed opinions like the wind.

Yes I'll admit this post itself may be an overreaction, but I certainly think that's what the OP is - that's just as long as I am still allowed to say what I think and adopt a contrary position to Dave et al that is?

I hope that is firmly tongue in cheek, for I hardly think Hughton or his tactics can be blamed for people not being able to control themselves. We´ve all got a responsibility to act civilly towards each other, irrespective of performances or results.

Dave - I think you´ve come in at the right time, with the right warning.

Munky, I've now seen your post, no intention of being heavy-handed, just asking people to show a little courtesy and not go on and on ad nauseum!

I don't want to single people out, but I will use one example because I know he won't be offended, and that's carrabuh! We all know carrabuh's views on the present set up, because he has told us a million times on a trillion different threads, he has also insulted Carla and Beefy along the way, and probably others that I've forgotten!

Sorry to single you out carrabuh, but I know you're man enough to take it! I also know that you like to make it edgy because that will provoke a lively response, but please can you stop going over ground that has already been covered!

    <cheers>

how many people on here deride the standard on the Pinkun board? quite honestly this board has degenerated alarmingly over the last few months and is in danger of becoming Pinkun Mk2. well done Dave.
