Has anyone got a theory why so many of the players this season have been missing because of hamstring problems. Looking back it seems as if we have had a constant supply of this injury, far more than in a normal season.

Is it the type of training, the way we play, even the pitch? It just seems very strange and when it is reported as a minor injury players have been out sometimes for a number of games.

Afternoon all from a chilly bandit country with a touch of snow in the air <yikes>. I see that Manager of The Month for Feb has not been announced as yet - but I am sure we all know who it will be it <yikes>.

Great job from the Watford legend Steven Finn last night - done exactly what was expected of him.

Been a busy morning, but the whole W_Y brood is out for dinner this evening for Mothers Day - so I can relax and take in some sport on TV this afternoon!

Just a touch? We've had bucketfuls of the stuff, but fortunately it isn't lingering too long on the ground, even though it is still hovering at 1C.

On the subject of heat, or lack of it - has anyone had any experience of a German heating system called Elti Heaters? My gas bill is becoming ridiculously high - currently over £200 per month - and I'm looking around for an alternative. I spotted an ad for these yesterday - apparently low running cost & simple to install, they sound a bit like storage heaters to me. Anyone know anything about them?

I am bored with my work this week already.

The sun rises today at kl.07:46 so we have light already. Husavík has snow today but we are told not.

Our elections are over one month away and I think the samfylkingin or social democtatic alliance will have the most seats again, but the best is the píratapartýið, the pirate party, who have one seat and want open government.

Brrrrrrrr - Morning from a chilly West West London. It was -2C when I left bandit country and it is that dry cold with a stiff breeze so the wind chill must be high.

Thanks for the frothy AK - like the new colour scheme again!

Hopefully with a few days off we can get the squad fit and ready again for a tough game at Barnsley.

Morning all from bright and sunny rural France. Thanks for the coffee ak, might need it later. Mme's car needs a MOT, well actually a CT and I have been given the job of taking it to the test centre. Slightly different here as the testers are not allowed to do anything to repair a car, so you don't feel that they are actually looking for work. Hopefully all will be well as I don't think large repair bills are in order for a car that only does about 1,000 miles a year. You only need the test every two years, although if you want to sell a car then you have to had one within the last six months.

While on the subject of cars, we were all told that under a new law we had to carry a couple of breathalizers in the car and could be fined if stopped without them. The production of these was minimal, only the ferry companies had them for sale, and the way that the law was supposed to work seemed very odd. Anyway although the law was passed the enforcement kept getting put off and now we are told that the law will remain, but no checks will be made. Typical of some ways in which we are governed.

Very un-Jersey like weather today. Shows how (relatively) bad it is if the national weather forecasts have made more of a mention of here than normal.

I heard that in north France there are english traffic policemen working with the french to help with the British drivers who get into trouble or who behave badly on the french roads.

We have a car which has mechanical 'deflectors' in the bulb unit. Do you know if that is acceptable to the French traffic police ? If so, do you have to prove thay are set to l-h drive ? I ask as I am getting fed up with the increasing price of stick on deflectors.

Separately, if I was 'King for a day' I'd make two traffic laws.
    1) The highest standard of driving laws and motoring rules (e.g. yellow bibs are compulsory in France) taken from each country in EU should be made STANDARD across all countries. It would beabout the most useful thing the EU could do - not that the current list is very long.
    2) Anyone, ANYONE, involved (driving) in an accident where they are overtaking, or on the wrong side of the road should be banned. If a fatality is involved, then banned for life and custodial.

Bit of a rant - sorry, but I feel better now.

With your deflectors I think you should be fine. I became fed up with buying the stick on ones when I made frequent trips across the channel, but picked up a tip from someone making regular journeys. Buy a reel of electricians insulating tape and while you are waiting to be loaded stick several strips on the area where the bought ones would go. It costs a matter of pence and will last for a long time. It dims the lights slightly but works a treat. The police never gave it a second glance and no drivers coming towards me ever flashed their lights at me.

Mme's car has a couple of minor things that need attention, but nothing too costly I hope. They give you two months to put things right, but if you are late back there is a fine. They also give you a list of things that will need doing in the future, but are acceptable for safety at the moment.

Watched the 1st half Burnley v Hull. Not much happened, the Hull keeper is the only one to have made a save. Hull look suspect at the back, but have not had much pressure put on them. SD has claimed that they are a mid-table side who are in a building program.

Burnley started brightly but Hull have come back into the game towards the end of the first half. But nothing special so far...

Hull packed their defence and tried to score on the break. Burnley really didn't know how to pick the lock, but could have scored at the very end.

    It looked very, very cold.<yikes>
