http://www.fulhamchronicle.co.uk/london-qpr/2013/03/10/82029-32962719/? ANDROS Townsend hopes his loan spell at QPR can boost his first-team chances at Tottenham Hotspur. The young winger bagged his first goal since his January switch to W12 in Saturday's victory over Sunderland with a stunning 25-yard strike. And Townsend hopes his exploits during his time at Loftus Road will make Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas take notice. He said: "Obviously I have belief in my own ability but this is my chance now to show people at Spurs, here and around the Premier League that I am good enough. "Hopefully I can take the opportunities when they come and show people what I can do. âI've spoken to Tim Sherwood a few times and Les Ferdinand has been down to a few games. "They're keeping tabs on me and hopefully they are pleased with what they see." Townsend had been restricted to just seven starts for Spurs since coming through the ranks at White Hart Lane, spending most of his time out on loan. However, the 21-year-old is still confident he can carve out a career with the north Londoners. "I scored on my debut and got man of the match so that was my biggest moment at Spurs,â he added. "Unfortunately after that I couldn't back it up but that is the way it goes sometimes. "Hopefully I can back my goal up here with a few more performances."
Very positive player but he is a spurs man on loan ... If we stay up who knows ? AVB is bloody clueless IMO and so wrapped up in his own self belief and tactics if Spurs slip now I can't see AVB getting them back ... Without the form of Bale I actually think Spurs are still a bit fragile
Sounds to me like he's saying that if Spurs aren't interested in him, he would either like to stay here or go to another premiership club where he'll be appreciated.
Great little player and totally positive in everything he does. whether we go down or not, i'll be gratefull for the effort and performances he's put in for us. Imagine being a good enought team to be able to keep someone like him in the reserves !!
Why? Because he doesn't want to spend the rest of his career at QPR? He is a Spurs fan and loves it there. He wants his career there. We can't blame him.
****ing hell did you see the way he celebrated all three goals this weekend he looks like a bloke who wants to play well for us.
Exactly. He has also said that his immediate priority is to help keep us up. Top bloke and by Christ, he's playing well!
AVB clueless? what are you basing that on? Did you ever think the form of Bale was directly correlated with AVB's tactics which have given him a lot more freedom?
Of course he wants to succeed at Suprs. What else is he going to say - he's still their player. He's hardly going to say he doesn't want to go back, is he...
Boys ...one step at a time. Andros is playing well, seems happy ro stay with us and keep us up, and looks that way on the pitch...not just talk, he wants to play and is enjoying it. If/when we stay up...time for a breather and see what the close season brings...
As far as I can see this is a Kyle Walker situation. Young and talented not quite able to break into the parent team's first team on a regular basis and is sent out on loan to another Premier League club to get game time. If the bloke continues to play the next 9 games like he has, his stock will rise and AVB can then decide in pre-season whether he is likely to want to have him in the 25 playing regularly or send him out on loan again to a Premier League club. I suspect that if AVB decides he has sufficient cover in the position and does not see a future for him then he will be put on the open market and whilst I am quite sure we will enquire about him and Harry might attempt a Jedi Mind Trick on him, he will end up signing either on loan or permanently for a more established Premier League club.
