It was maybe just outside on the TV link I was watching too. That said, it was pretty much right on top of the line when Luke was falling.
That was never a foul anyway, Shaw barely had his hand tickled. I am not as certain as everyone else that the first Holt incident was a penalty, it's not clear from the images if he was actually pulled back. Ref was in a dreadful position to spot it anyway. They didn't show it but straight after that the ball was crossed back in, hit Lallana on the arm as he blocked, lino wasn't interested but the ref gave it and booked him for some reason. Not good. As for the penalty that was given, initially I thought it was just a coming together. On the replay, it's a clear dive. Again the ref was miles away and the lino wasn't giving it, so when he eventually pointed to the spot it was more than a bit surprising. I actually thought he was going to change his mind when he spoke to the assistant, but he did not. All in all a pretty disastrous day for Clattenburg, particularly after all the praise he rightly got for Spurs v Arsenal last week. Here's some penalty stats for league games so far. For: 3 penalties given (Aston Villa, Fulham, Villa again) 1 incorrect (Villa away) 3 scored (of course) Against: 5 penalties given (Man C, Man U, West Ham, Newcastle, Norwich) 2 incorrect (the last two) 2 scored, 3 saved So we're one dodgy pen in arrears, wonder which game we will get it in
I don't think it was inside the box but for me it was a definite foul. There was minimal contact but he definitely went to pull him back and succeeded in obstructing him from making progress towards the ball with a slight pull on the hand and hence a clear foul. Snodgrass moaned all game and certainly had an issue with Shaw, and yet when that foul was given he just turned and walked away without arguing, a classic reaction to a deliberate professional foul like that.
