And is beyond the pale imo.

Sir Alex Ferguson told a room full of reporters that a woman colleague had 'been dragged out of the kitchen' to speak to them.

Sir Alex previously accused of sexism when he told female physio that football was a 'male sport' and footballers preferred to be treated by men

Is it wrong to say that I agree with him?

It isn't sexist to note that men's football is a 'male sport', it is the exact definition of what it is. I hate the cries of 'political correctness gone mad' but this really is ludicrous if people take offence. I think if anything Fergie should be given credit for replying personally. I've applied for countless jobs and the amount of times I get no response at all is sadly high; for one of the world's top football managers to take the time to respond personally to a job enquiry, if anything, makes me respect the guy a hell of a lot more. It's a sorry state of affairs if people use this as a reason to moan and gripe.

EDIT: What happened with the 'kitchen' comment? I've genuinely not heard about it

Yes it is wrong, if in my job we were to write to someone and say "sorry we cannot give you the job because my colleagues don't want to work with a woman" then they'd put in a claim for descrimination.

But football isn't a normal career, by nature it is separated by gender like most sports. I'm sure in your workplace there aren't men's only offices and women's only offices, whereas in football there has to be men's only leagues and women's only leagues and there always will be. It's not a black and white situation.

I agree but thats not how the law works, you now need the job to be exempted under the act before you say anything of the sort.

PS sex discrim act was 1970's but would imagine it has been superseded by the equality act, either way in those days what fergie was the norm.

In the end, why can you not choose to be treated by whomever you want to be treated by, you don't even need to give a reason.

It is not whether I agree with Slugson

Women can choose a male or female doctors and midwifes if they wish, which is understandable, my misses demanded a we have a female midwife for our first Son and will do so again for our 2nd in May.

    Nothing wrong with it.

I think sexism can be a serious problem along with most other "isms"

but someone having a laugh about whether a women belonging in the kitchen or men not being able to multi-task seems to be blown out of all proportion by the media these days

I believe we should celebrate & enjoy the differences :D

I see nothing wrong with that '94 letter. He lets her know what his players' (the people who will receive the treatment) preferences are, and their preferences should weigh in a bit more than "symbolism".

I'd much rather work with a 20 year old blonde swedish underwear model than half the people I work with but makes no difference what I want. People with the right skill set should be given the job no matter who they are and what gender/sexuality etc they are.
